I am thrilled to be your second grader’s teacher! (Maybe I was lucky enough to teach their older sibling(s)!) Mary E. Roberts Elementary is my home away from home and I truly love this community! I have been teaching elementary education, grades 1-5, for thirteen years. I received my MA in Teaching Elementary Education from Loyola University, Maryland and BA in Psychology and Art History from the University of Maryland. In 2013, the National Education Association selected me as a Master Teacher. I am also a published children's book author. Before New Jersey, I taught in New York and Massachusetts. Before that, I taught in Maryland, where I also grew up. I love to learn and have fun, so I hope you do, too!
When I am not teaching...I love spending time with my husband, third grade daughter, first grade son (both are at Roberts, too!), and giant, but sweet dogs, Ruby and Ginger. We have fun adventures that I will tell the students all about. We love to be out and about so you may see me at the park, library, store, zoo, or ice-cream shop! My hobbies include painting, cooking, reading, doing anything active outdoors, and traveling.
I also love to write. I have authored three picture books, SOMETIMES LOVE, ONE HUG, and GRANDPA GRUMPS, with the sequel, GRUMPY NEW YEAR, forthcoming in December 2022 , as well as the three TEENY HOUDINI chapter books, a brand-new fun and funny series. Find out more about my books and my writing journey at my author website.
For me, teaching is more than a career; it is a passion! I believe that each child holds great potential and that it is my job to help the child find and believe in that potential. Get ready for a super fun, fantastic school year! I look forward to an excellent year of learning and growing with you all this school year.
Thank you for entrusting me with your bright children!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Moore
