47% of US jobs are at high risk of automation in the next few decades. The job market is changing at unprecedented levels. When we hardly have an idea of what kind of jobs our kindergarteners will have when they grow up, we need to teach them how to survive in an ever-changing economy. Alefiya is an educator turned entrepreneur - an edupreneur - because she’s passionate about broadening teacher horizons on how education can look in today's world. In her keynote, she will encourage you and your students to #beapreneur, anypreneur. Pick what gives you energy, what excites you, what makes your heart beat just a little faster, and then figure out how to innovate, disrupt, do better, bolder things with that. The reality is, when we don’t know what jobs are going to exist 10 years from now, we have to teach kids to create their own!

Problem Solving! Design Process! Competition!
In this workshop students are presented with timed “STEAM” and “MINUTE TO WIN IT” design challenges and work to engineer a solution with everyday objects and materials. The groups then present their designs and compete against other teams by testing their designs. This is a great way to introduce or build upon design thinking skills while students discover how different solutions can be used to solve one problem.

In this workshop, students will learn about blockchain through an interactive game called Are the fish safe to eat? Blockchain offers all parties involved in a business network a secure and synchronized transaction from beginning to end. This is done through digital ledgers, a chronicle version of the list of events designed to be unhackable. The list of the events are blocks; the blocks are distributed across multiple computers. Students will learn every step of the blockchain process by figuring out who touched the fish starting from the fisherman, all the way through the importers, exporters, and distributors.
