Hello! My name is Eugenio Marcano and I'm a GIS and and Soil Science instructor at the college as well as the manager of the GeoProcessing Lab (Clapp 410).
My interests are developing applications of GIS to real world problems and I am always available to talk with students, staff, and faculty about your needs in geospatial technologies (GIS, remote sensing, GNSS). I teach the courses "GIS for the Social Sciences & Humanities" (Geog210) and Mapping and Spatial Analysis (Geog205).
I also have a degree as a soil chemist because I'm fascinated by all aspects of soil science. As a component of the ecosystem, soils are one of the most important (and usually ignored) agents in nature. At MHC I also teach "Environmental Soil Science" (Geog230) where we learn about the chemistry, physics, biology, management, and classification of soils and their function in the ecosystem.
My office is Clapp 412. My email address is emarcano@mtholyoke.edu.
