BLOXBOT
BLOXBOT
When creating this Welcome Bot i started off with setting my code to be sensored by sound which is causing light to be activated. Which didn't give me a hard time like the code for the music box project. After the code was set , i went into the woodshop and grabbed two thick blocks of wood. After this i used an Japenese and Rip-Cut saw to cut my blocks into many different shapes. I struggled with cutting the bigger pieces of my wood, sometimes the saw would get stuck. But after a couple tries my wood pieces were the shapes and sizes i wanted them to be. My next step was to drill holes in the arms, head, legs, and the stomach area . I did this so i can put a string through the holes to keep the body connected. After i added the strings, the body was still not in place so i resolved this by placing wood glue on the parts that were not sticking together. After this i let the glue dry for about a day and i came back the next day to paint it. I found a nice pink spray paint that i liked and begin to spray my bot. After a while i realized that i was using chalk spray paint which was not my intentions. At least now i know which spray paint not to use.
This projected played a role in self regulation because even though i didn't cut my wood right the first couple times or my spray paint didn't come out the way I it, i still was able to control my emotions a nd proceed. I didnt let my fustration or anger take over. This project made feel successful because I completed it even though i struggled many times, it made me even happier.
Circut project
When designing this Cloud Paper Circut i went through a couple of challenges for example i constanly kept ripping the copper tape which was causing my led to stop lighting up. Also my draft design did not meet the projects requirements, it was supposed to have some type of input to trigger movement or light. So what i did was i went to fimble and recieved help from someone who worked there. And they was really helpful i decided to restart to improve my designs. having someone there to give me their input was really significant because i probably would've styaed stuck and got upset with myself because i didn't find a solution.
Self efficacy played a role when creating this project because when my project was not working i still believed that i can fix it. I didn't just give up when i was struggling. I also had a high self efficacy when completing this project because i had other people around me with experience to help me and give me feedback. I was willing to take on new task.
When creating my doorbell, I succeeded at cutting my wood into the shape. I wanted it to be but when it came to activating my code, I had many errors which I did not know how to fix so I reached out to my teacher and got help from her, which was very helpful I ended up getting a New Bluetooth playground and continuing with my project. After this my code was set . But as I was assembling my project together, I realized that my code was not working how I wanted it to work when I plugged in the battery, but when I plugged in the USB, my doorbell worked perfectly fine I did not find a solution for this problem, but I tried my best to solve it!! mindset played a role when creating my doorbell because even when I struggled, I did not give up I kept a growth mindset throughout this whole process. The feeling of belongingness impacted my process because when I seen it, I seen my Peers also struggling with the same thing I was struggling with. I felt more comfortable and it was easier to work with them since we was on the same page I didn’t feel excluded. During this project, I had a high self efficacy because I was confident that I can complete this task. I felt confident because I had classmates there to help.
I also had high self efficacy, because every time I struggled it was easy for me to find a solution . I also felt more comfortable because those around me were also struggling. It was also similar to many projects we have done in this course, so it was easy for me to adapt. this project reminds me of the music box project, but this time I did not give up. I continue to proceed, even when things got challenging.
When creating this project i felt unsure if i was going to be able to succeed. But once we began it was easier for me because the instructions were really self explainatory, i also had a group to help me when i places a wire or tool in the wrong place. Self regulation played a part in this project because when my classmate was unsure about something it was up to me to control how i handled the situation. Also having a growth mindset because every time i got something wrong i got fustrated just a tad but i did not let that stop me, i continued to create my bot even under pressure. It was easy for me to adapt to these new skills because the instruction weren't to hard and all my classmates were also on the same page as me. It was a learning experience for majority of us. Keeping a growth mindset when completing task your unfimiliar with is key. Mistakes make you stronger !!
During this project i didn't struggle with communication, my partners and i came to many agreements. I felt comfortatble with the group i was in because even if i didn't understand they would show me instead of getting upset. They regulated their emotions. The only thing we sort of struggled with was changing the music notes to a song of our choice. This Jack--O-Light lights up orange and plays a song. We created this for children when entering a haundted house. THis project was a success. Not having multiple perspectives impacts my problem solving because when I come across a problem and I'm stuck, it would be easier to come up with a solution. Also having another perspective can increase my cognitive flexibility. I will feel more confident in completing my project with another set of eyes other than my own.A time during this project when I got stuck is when I wasn't sure how to put sound and light as an input, when this happened I asked my classmate for her advice. I instantly went to look for a new perspective to gain new insights and figure out how to proceed through this challenge. A time where I was committed to a plan but could have been more effective by pivoting to a new plan is when I was creating my paper cricut. I knew I wasn't meeting the requirements but I continued to work through it. But during this process I got my project to work but it still didn’t meet the requirements like if I cheated myself. What I would tell my former self is it is okay to start over from scratch and get advice from others, that one piece of advice may lead you in a better direction.
In Week 1 When i first begin this project i wasn't sure how to go about it. I didn't know what materials i needed to complete my project. I was stuck, i knew i couldn't complete it without some type of help. When i found out the materials i needed to use, it stressed me out even more because i wasn't familiar with using wires to make connections. It was really challenging for me my first, i was questioning if i would even be able to complete the project. I did not have a growth mindset when beginning this project, i was so stuck on my failures. I wasn't sure exactly what code to use, how to arrange my wires and where to connect it on my circut board.
In week 2 i had a better understanding of what i wanted to do and how i was going to do it. My mind changed after having a conversation with my teacher. I still had many failures during week two. I was struggling with reading the code which played part in where i would be connecting my wires. The way i proceeded through this challenge was by re-reading the code over and over again until it made sense. After this i waited until the next class day to get confirmation from my teacher that i did it correctly. When i tried to set the code after getting this confirmation it still did not work. I came to a realization that it may have been the circut board that i was using because i am always getting an error when i took all the right steps. After this the teacher gave me another circut board, so i had to disconnect all the wires i've connected and it reconnected them to a new board. Running the code on a new board was successful. I felt joyful when seeing my code worked, it made feel so good and happy about my project. At first whe beginning this project i was not to confident. Self efficacy played a role in week two because i would have never believed in myself if i didn't have that conversation with my teacher and peers. I would have never progressed.
Week 3 was a tassle for me. I was still waiting for my stuffed animal to come in the mail , which was a major set back for me because i couln't complete my project without it due to the fact that my circut board and speaker needed to be placed inside the stuffed animal. I also have to learn how to sew the bear back together which i couldn't figure out sooner due to me not having the bear. So what i did to get through this was practicing hand sewing one of my old sweaters that had a ripped pocket. Even after this i still couldn't sew to well .
I also realized that i had to transfer this youtube audio on to a SD card. which i wasn't sure how to do. So I watched youtube tutorials to get through this step. It was challenging for me because of the type of computer i was working with. I also came up with an idea to change the audio i was using, which was pretty successful for me since i have done it once. As I try to put my wires and speaker inside my stuffed animal, they kept disconnecting which was really upsetting. I had to tape up my wires together so they wouldn't touch and so they won't take up too much space.
