Foundation Stage Children in Foundation Stage have been very busy thinking of adjectives to describe the fox from The Gingerbread Man story. They then used these adjectives to write their very own spine poems. How clever are they!
Key Stage One Our gymnastics learning is in full swing already. The children are exploring shapes in the air, learning different jumps and rolls and also developing their awareness of the importance of warming up. The children have also loved learning about the history of our school. They were fascinated by the old documents and logs books which we found relating to the school.
Lower Key Stage Two This week, in LKS2, we have been learning about the main parts and functions of our skeleton and how important muscles are. We have been linking our science learning about the eat-well plate to our DT cookery, considering the ingredients for our recipe carefully and loving taking part in the cooking process thanks to 'Roots to Food'. In year 3 French, the children have been learning how to ask for their shopping politely. We have been enjoying our new PE topics and Year 4 even enjoyed a fantastic trip to Nocton for a multi-sports event where they showcased their sporting talents as well as our school values in abundance.
Upper Key Stage Two Another busy week here in UKS2 where the children continue to show superb resilience and determination with their learning. In English we have delved deeper into the story of Smaug. After looking at how to create suspense within our writing, we have moved onto how to describe a villain using a variety of writing techniques. The children have learnt the story very quickly and when retelling what we have learnt so far their dramatizing of the events is very impressive and entertaining. Across the three upper key stage classes, in maths, the children have been exploring short and long multiplication, short and long division (with and without remainders) and the introduction of ratio. In History, our new unit 'Ancient Egyptians' has kicked off well. Already the children have learnt: when the beginning of Ancient Egypt was; where Egypt is; what was happening in Britain during that time; what the social structure was like in Ancient Egypt; who the Pharaohs were; what their roles and responsibilities were and what the people’s lives were like. Phew!

We have been lucky enough to work with Darren from Roots to Food again today. He worked on a dish to celebrate Chinese New Year with our LKS2 pupils and has asked me to share it with families.
If you decide to cook this for Chinese New Year, please send us your photographs so we can share them with Darren.
