Learning Updates
Foundation Stage The Reception children have been learning about freezing and melting in Science. They have learnt the words 'solid' and 'liquid' when talking about the changes of the materials. They particularly enjoyed tasting their ice lollies.
Key Stage One The children in Key Stage One are enjoying their music sessions with the Lincolnshire Music Service. There are always lots of smiles and laughter as the children learn songs and participate in activities to develop an understanding of rhythm, beat, tempo and pitch. Singing is in full swing as the children master the Nativity songs- they sound fantastic.
Lower Key Stage Two This week, the children showcased incredible teamwork during their basketball games, demonstrating both skill and collaboration on the court. They also completed their PANTS lesson, reinforcing the important message that private parts are private, identifying safe adults, and discussing the difference between good and bad secrets. In Geography, the children explored how rivers support settlements by providing leisure, transport, and farming opportunities. They learned about major UK rivers, including the Thames, the Severn (the longest in the UK), and our closest river, the Witham. Great work, everyone!
Upper Key Stage Two Week 5: done! It's going to be December next week; how has that come around so quickly?! In English this week, UKS2 have moved onto the Innovation part of their writing journey. Using everything they've learnt over the past few weeks: how to build an image of the subject in the reader’s mind; how to talk as an expert; how to hook/ interest the reader; understand the model – effects; understand the tools responsible for the effects; demonstrate use of ‘tools’, they are now drafting their own informative version of a 'Tempest Giant'. The first few paragraphs produced are looking amazing and we can't wait to get lost in a world of the children's Tempest Giants once the finished and polished versions are complete. In PSHE, the children have been learning about 'Family Life' and the different versions that can look like. The children are almost near the end of the RE unit: Being Human (Islam), where they have been learning about the different ways in which religious beliefs impact on individuals’ decisions and actions.

Meet the team
Hello, I am Mrs South and I am the Year 2 class teacher on a Thursday and Friday. I joined Metheringham Primary School in September and absolutely love working with both the staff and children. I feel very lucky to work with the children in Kingfisher class. I am also the Mental Health and Well-being Lead- a role which is developing this year. The Happy and Healthy Ambassadors work with me regularly too.
In my spare time, I love walking my dog Chip (star of the photo)! I also enjoy spending time with my family and have a huge passion for film and theatre.

Christmas Fayre
A huge thank you to our FOMS Team who worked incredibly hard to set up a wonderful Christmas Fayre for all to enjoy. I'm sure you'll agree that the atmosphere in school was lovely and there was something fun for everyone to do. FOMS have counted their takings and.....they made over £400 in profit on their stalls alone.
We will notify parents of the total profit for all stalls in a weeks time.
We will continue to take entries into the hamper and Christmas cake raffle during our infant nativities next week.
Thank you to everyone who showed their support by helping out, taking part and donating gifts. You are all incredible!

Pets as Therapy- Session 1
Our Pets as Therapy dog, Tanya, started her sessions with us last week and will now be a regular visitor to school. This half term, she is working with our Happy and Healthy Ambassadors. The children and staff loved their first session with Tanya and they can't wait to see her again. Tanya is always with her handler and a member of school staff is present too. During session one, the children asked brilliant questions about dogs and dog safety, as well as spending some time relaxing with her. Children will only work with Tanya after full permission has been sought from home, via a letter from school.
Diary of events term 3 and 4
All dates are on our school website and calendar.
rudy's winter walk
On Friday 6th December, we will have a whole school Winter Walk. Outdoor shoes and being wrapped up for winter is necessary!
This year, we will be popping on antlers and walking in aid of St Barnabas. Rudy the Reindeer will be popping into school soon to drop off our antlers.
We will be donating the nativity ticket sales to this special cause. This is not a request for donations from parents as we will be doing this on behalf of the school community. If anyone wants to donate any extra, there is an option to do this on Parent Pay.
Thank you
Metheringham Christmas Light switch on
We would like to invite any children who are at the Metheringham Village Fayre and light switch on, on Sunday 1st December, to join the staff at the stage area for a singalong. All pupils are welcome to join us as we sing to the community. We will sing some school classics and have some fun before the official countdown. Staff will be at the stage area at 4:30....please come and join us (the teachers don't want to sing on their own).
