Foundation Stage Children in Foundation Stage have wrote their very first sentence using the story of Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you hear? Look how clever their writing is!
Key Stage One Its been a fantastic week for Key Stage One. Year 2 children enjoyed a workshop on understanding their emotions and learned some mindful activities to feel calm and happy. In PE, we have enjoyed learning new dances and played games with Mr Harper to improve our fitness and work as part of a team. We have also been designing puppets in DT and started writing our independent stories in English. We are looking forward to sharing them soon!
Lower Key Stage Two What a fantastic start of the term we have had in LKS2! In English, we have been publishing our amazing stories and we cannot wait to share them with you. In maths, we have been adding and subtracting using column method and are beginning to look at making exchanges. In science, we have begun our topic on rocks and soils. The children loved looking at all the different rock samples and seeing what obsidian looked like in real life! In Geography, we have been using atlases to discover the main countries in the UK, the 9 regions and what counties are in the East Midlands. What a busy week!
Upper Key Stage Two This week in UKS2, we’ve had a fantastic time diving into a variety of exciting topics! Our budding writers have been crafting expert fact files on giants and dragons, developing detailed information texts that are truly amazing. In Science, we’ve been experimenting with electricity, learning how to make light bulbs shine brighter and discovering how circuits work. In PE, we’ve been brushing up on our basketball skills, working on technique and teamwork. Geography has taken us across the Atlantic as we explore the 50 states of America, learning interesting facts about each one. In reading, we’ve been digging deeper into Holes, uncovering themes and hidden meanings in the text. It’s been a fabulous week of learning and creativity in UKS2!
166 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.
Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.3%
Current whole school attendance is 97.22%
Our attendance figures this week are as follows:
Well done to Miss Storr's Class for their top attendance this week. All classes have maintained our school target of 95% or more which is incredible.

Hi, I’m Miss Storr and I am Early Years and Phonics Lead in school. You will find me in the Reception classroom, having lots of fun with the children. I have a passion for Early Years and enjoy helping children begin their educational journey.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my children who are grown up now. Charlotte is 24 and Freya is 20. We enjoy having girly shopping days, going out for nice meals and walking our miniature Labradoodle dog called Enzo.
Every child from Year 2 upwards has a Spelling Shed account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website Spelling Shed
Here are the latest scores on the whole-school leader board (these scores are based on their total score from the last 7 days):
Wow, well done to this week's top ten!

Battle of the Rockstars
Each week, we will display some stats from across the school to find out who is rocking their times tables. Here is the current whole school leaderboard.
Well done to this week's top ten!
Eco - Committee have joined the Pod campaign to recycle batteries and protect the planet. They have delivered an assembly this week to help educate their peers about the importance of recycling batteries and launch the campaign.
We need your help for a chance to win book vouchers for the school. The first 50 schools to send back a full box will receive book vouchers to spend on our school library!
How can you help?
Hunt out used batteries at home. We are collecting AA, AAA, C, D, 9V and button batteries.
Tape over the contacts of lithium (Li) and button batteries (see below).
Put them in a tied plastic bag (preferably reused)
Take them to the school’s collection point.
Safety first:
Lithium and button batteries need to be taped so their contacts don’t touch, as they could short circuit if they do.
Use sticky tape over the contacts (top and bottom of batteries). Button batteries can be placed in a line between two sections of sticky tape. Lithium batteries can look like any battery, but they will have lithium (Li) written on them.
Thank you for your support,
Eco-Committee

Hi, Metheringham Primary School! We’re your new Junior Road Safety Officers for 2024/2025, and we’re here to help keep everyone safe when walking, cycling, and crossing the roads near our school. Our job is to remind you about road safety rules, share tips to stay safe and organise fun activities and events. We’ll be looking out for ways to make our school and community safer for everyone. Remember, we can all help make the roads safer if we work together and follow the rules! This week, we met Mrs Garfoot who is our contact from Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership.
All together, we will be organising assemblies and competitions and you will get a prize if you win. Throughout the year, we will be focusing on the following subjects:
1.Pedestrians Safety
2.In The Car Safety
3.Out And About Safety
We would love to have your ideas as well
All together, we are the JRSO’s.
Lydia, Isla, Chloe and Emily
On Tuesday 19th November, we will have a photographer in school who will be taking photographs of our wonderful school to include on our school website. These photographs will showcase school, learning, pupils and staff in learning environments around school.
As we already have photo permissions for the website, we do not require anything further from parents. We do ask that children are in full school uniform on the day.
Thank you
In partnership with the Pets as Therapy charity, we would like to introduce you to Tanya. Tanya is a trained and certified therapy dog that will be working in school on Friday afternoons for 1 hour. She will be working 1:1 or with small groups of pupils who have been invited by letter and who have parental permission to engage in this programme. This programme aims to enhance the well-being of our students through interaction with therapy dogs. Tanya is a St Bernard. Her trainer and a member of school staff are present during the sessions.
We understand a number of children have a fear of dogs and would like to take this opportunity to reassure parents that Tanya will only be seen by children engaging in this programme with parental permission.
Tanya will start her work in a few weeks time. All pupils will be aware of safety and appropriate behaviour around dogs before she starts her job.
