Foundation Stage Children in Foundation Stage have been learning about size, capacity and weight. They have enjoyed exploring different equipment and using their growing language when talking about their learning through their play. They have used the language large, tiny, small, heaviest, lightest, full and empty.
Key Stage One A great week in Year 2. We have been observing seasonal changes around us and took advantage of the lovely autumn sun to walk around the school grounds, spotting signs of autumn. We used some great adjectives to describe the changes that we could see. We have also taken a photograph of the tree outside of our classroom and are planning to photograph it once a month so that we can compare the pictures. In history we have loved learning about The Wright Brothers and their bi-plane. We have also been discussing how transport has changed over time. In maths, we are getting brilliant at using practical equipment to support our understanding of place value and calculation. We have used the ten frame and counters today to use what we know about bonds to 10 and relating that to bonds to 100. I wonder if the children can teach you our number bond song?
Lower Key Stage Two This week, in history, we have been re-enacting jobs that people would have done in the bronze age. The children loved learning about how bronze was made and how it changed people's lives. In science, we continued our learning on circuits and followed instructions to create a circuit with a switch. In English, we have finished writing our shared stories and we are now ready to be let loose on our independent writing next week; we can't wait to see what the children will write about!
Upper Key Stage Two This week, in English, we focused on writing a shared suspense story. The Eagles wrote about their adventurer, Jef, who was lost in an eerie forest. The Owls wrote about Ethan, who was entering a fog-covered forest and the Woodpeckers wrote about Brett, who was in an abandoned building with a fiery-eyed creature. The children have enjoyed learning about William Morris in art - expressing themselves as artists in their sketchbooks is becoming their favourite thing to do.
186 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.
Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.3%
Current whole school attendance is 97.79%
Our attendance figures this week are as follows:
Well done to Miss Storr's class! They've topped the charts again!
Bonjour!
My name is Mrs Thackray and I am the school SENDCO, Modern Foreign Language (MFL) subject leader and the Looked After Children's Designated Teacher.
I have been a teacher for over thirty years with the majority of those years being spent at Metheringham school teaching children from Reception up to Year 6. I am passionate about inclusion, special educational needs and helping all children to thrive.
My passion for languages developed from an early age as I was born and grew up in North Wales. Throughout my own education I studied Welsh as a second language until I completed my teacher training. Despite leaving Wales when I moved to Lincolnshire, I continue to enjoy my visits to Wales and remain a keen supporter of Welsh rugby.
I am here to help parents, careers and pupils to access an inclusive school, a broad and balanced curriculum and learning that inspires them to succeed. I love nothing more than seeing pupils actively engaged in lessons and achieving their potential.
If you ever come into my office be sure to take a look at my wall of achievements featuring some of the pupils I look after in school.
Merci et Au Revoir!
Next Wednesday is our individual school photo day.
All children need to be in their full school uniform and NOT their PE kit. If your child has PE on this day, they will need to bring in their trainers to change into for PE. Any PE sessions will be changed to accommodate full school uniform.
Sibling photographs will take place during the school day.
Pre-school siblings can have their photos taken with their siblings from 8:30 in the school hall.
Every child from Year 2 upwards has a Spelling Shed account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website Spelling Shed
Here are the latest scores on the whole-school leader board (these scores are based on their total score from the last 7 days):
Super spelling! Well done Harry, another great score :-)
Every child from Year 3 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars

We can't wait to see you in school!
We have started a two-year school project called Talk4Writing. This project aims to enhance our pupils oracy skills and ultimately improve writing outcomes for all pupils. We know many children have been inspired by their Talk4Writing lessons so far. Here are a few pupils who confidently created story maps and boxing up grids to support the writing process.
Ask your child about Talk4Writing and be amazed at their story telling skills.
