Foundation Stage Children in Reception have been using position and direction language through computing. They enjoyed listening to and copying a robot, then they gave each other verbal instructions using wonderful language. Well done Chicks and Robins.
Key Stage One This week KS1 have been buzzzzy making their Bee hotels. They are looking forward to finishing them next week and evaluating their designs. We hope they will have some residents soon.
Lower Key Stage Two This week in year 3 and 4, the children have been sending support to all the players and teams at the Euro's by singing loud and proud some of the team's anthems in assembly. The children have been busy completing their Anderson shelters in Design and Technology; working in teams to produce some impressive models. In English this week, the children have been learning about Haiku poetry, the rules to writing a Haiku poem and producing their own versions. Whilst in Geography, the children have been working in teams to navigate and measure the school grounds using a compass. Swimming lessons have been a great success throughout this term, and the children have thoroughly embraced the opportunity to impress their peers and demonstrate their strengths in the pool. Similarly, adults have noticed children who have challenged themselves and achieved personal success in the pool; week on week growing in confidence.
Upper Key Stage Two This past term has been a vibrant and enriching time at Metheringham Primary School, filled with a variety of exciting events that have both educated and delighted our pupils. The UKS2 children continue to work so hard, as we complete the remaining lessons of the curriculum. This particular week, however, the annual play has taken precedence, where our talented students have shone in the end-of-year performance, showcasing their hard work and creativity to a proud audience of family and friends. Zoe and Amelia-Grace tell us more:
At Metheringham Primary school, UKS2 (Year 4, 5 and 6) have been working hard to put on a play for the parents/carers. Some really strong actors are coming to the surface and children are expressing their abilities in different ways. Read more to find out what happens behind the scenes.
The name of the play is ‘What a Knight’ and is a comedy set in King Arthur’s time. The main character is called Watt Cobblers and he is training to be a knight of the round table but gets expelled. He then meets the adventurous Princess Alice and her best friend Dusty the dragon. They all help defeat the villain, the Black Knight, and find Excalibur, which Merlin the wizard had lost.
There were only 64 speaking roles, so the children had to audition to get a part. The child playing the main role said that they were overjoyed when they got the main character. Several props were used so a handful of children were allocated the part of setting up the stage and handing out props. Other children were also able to control music and sound effects.
The performances were held in Week 6 and the children worked so hard since the start of it. A member of Year 6 says, “It was a great opportunity and made a change to the normal lessons.’’ All the UKS2 teachers were so pleased with the outcome.
20 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.
145 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this term.
Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.15%
Current whole school attendance is 95.32%
Our attendance figures this week are as follows:
Well done to all our classes that maintained 95% or above. Our Year 3 Class have the best attendance of the week for the second week running! Well done :-)
Please find a reminder about school uniform in preparation for the September uniform shop:
• Children are expected to wear school uniform Monday to Friday.

Mrs Bates will be leaving us at the end of next week to pursue pastures new. I'm sure you will all join me in wishing her well in her future adventures.
Miss McKechnie will be supporting the Pastoral Team on a part-time basis in Term 1.
This week, we said thank you and farewell to our Chair of Governors. Mrs Whitehouse has dedicated 19 years voluntary service to the school and community so it was only fitting to give her a true Metheringham send off. We wish her a happy and healthy future!
During the last school week, we had 20_incidences of lateness.
Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.
These latenesses range from 8 minutes late to 105 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.
Every child from Year 2 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars
Battle of the Classes
Each week we will display the TTRockstars Class averages to see who is putting in the most effort across the school.
Well done to Miss Tucker's Class, you had the most active players this week! Great Effort!
Every child from Year 2 upwards has a Spelling Shed account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website Spelling Shed

At Metheringham Primary School, we value reading very highly. To celebrate, we will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair on Monday 15th July 2024 in the school hall. Books can be purchased from 3:30 in the school hall via a QR Code. You can also make advanced purchases on the website.
