Learning Updates
Foundation Stage Children in Reception have finished sewing their sea creatures with their features attached. How amazing do they look? Well done to all of the Reception Chicks and Robins. 🐠
Key Stage One The children in Years 1 and 2 have finished their story writing inspired by the wonderful picture book, Du Iz Tak and are excited to publish their stories and share them with everyone! We have also begun our DT project to build bee homes and are very grateful to all the families who have offered materials. Thank you.
Lower Key Stage Two LKS2 have been busy writing and publishing their adventure stories this week. In Science, we have explored the different ways seeds are dispersed. In DT LKS2 have created some brilliant shelter models inspired by the WW2 Anderson shelters. Finally, in PSHE we have begun to think about transitions as the end of the school year is creeping closer.
Upper Key Stage Two We’ve had an exciting and productive week in Year 5/6! The Woodpeckers have successfully completed the maths unit on negative numbers and are now diving into the world of converting units. It’s been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and understanding grow. Year 6 have continued to explore algebra! They are really getting the hang of it! In English, we are continuing to draft our moon landing newspaper articles, inspired by our reading of "Hidden Figures." The Woodpeckers are becoming excellent reporters and are excited to publish their articles on Chromebooks. One of the highlights this week was the much-anticipated visit from the ice cream van. We all thoroughly enjoyed out tasty treats! We were also thrilled to attend the 'Inspire assembly' on Thursday, which left everyone feeling motivated and inspired. Our Drumba sessions have been progressing well; we are becoming more synchronised and confident with each practice. In RE, we learnt about the rich traditions of marriage ceremonies in Sikhism, and in Geography, we explored the concept of a global supply chain, understanding how interconnected our world is.
attendance
20 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.
159 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this term.
Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.15%
Current whole school attendance is 95.36%
Our attendance figures this week are as follows:
Well done to all our classes that maintained 95% or above. Our Year 3 Class have the best attendance of the week, well done!
Lateness
During the last school week, we had 17_incidences of lateness.
Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.
These latenesses range from 5 minutes late to 40 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.
TTRockstars
Every child from Year 2 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars
Battle of the Classes
Each week we will display the TTRockstars Class averages to see who is putting in the most effort across the school.
Well done Woodpeckers! So much effort has been displayed from you this week!
school hours
A reminder to all families that from September 2024 our school day will be aligned and all pupils will finish school at 3:30.

Garden Party
I am thrilled to announce that our FOMS team raised a massive £1104 from all of their stalls at this year's Garden Party. Year 6 games, beat the goalie and the School Council raised an additional £330. This brings our total to £1434!
Thank you everyone, we are very lucky to have such a supportive community. All funds go directly back to the children.
Amazon wishlist
The school has set up an amazon wishlist with a whole host of ideas if anyone would like to donate something to the school. We will write inside the front cover of any books to say who it was donated by, and add the books to our school library. You are invited to donate a book on your child's birthday to mark the special day. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Moving on up! Outreach
Our 0-5 Moving On Up sessions are on every Thursday in Term 6. Come and join us between 1:15-2:15. No booking required.
splash-a-thon
On Saturday, Meg Pool's Splash-a-thon raised a massive £1600. The children had a wonderful time playing the games, swimming with their friends and enjoying the sunshine. Thank you to the community for turning up and supporting your local pool. Without the pool, we would not be able to provide swimming to all pupils with no charge to parents. A huge thanks to the wonderful team of volunteers that look after and continue to develop this asset to the village. Another big thank you to Mrs Flintham, who spent most of the day in the pool entertaining pupils.
Book Fair
At Metheringham Primary School, we value reading very highly. This year, we are so proud to have achieved the Lincolnshire Reading Pledge Silver Award that recognises the incredible ‘love of reading’ journey we have been on over the past couple of years. To celebrate, we will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair on Monday 15th July 2024.
