Foundation Stage Children in Reception have been learning about how harmful plastics can be in our oceans. They have made some wonderful posters about how we can help keep our oceans clean.
Key Stage One Wow! The Key Stage One children have impressed us this week with their amazing learning in phonics and reading. They have displayed super attitudes and determination and we are all so proud of them. In maths the Year 2s have been having fun learning about position and direction and Year 1 have been securing their place value knowledge. We have also loved using technology to listen to, play and compose music using Chrome Music Hub and we started swimming! What a super week.
Lower Key Stage Two Year 3 and 4 have been researching Anderson shelters as part of Design Technology learning. Over the next couple of weeks, the children will be designing and making replica shelters to accompany our WWII learning. We are especially proud of the children in year 4 this week as they all showed determination and resilience in the official Multiplication tables check. Outside the classroom, the children have enjoyed playing rounders, focusing on team work and tactics. The theme of sport has continued inside the classroom, with many children enjoying our 'Euro's' reading selection.
Upper Key Stage Two Upper Key Stage 2 have been busy this week - busier than usual even! Rehearsals are going well and the expression and vitality the children are bringing to their roles is commendable. The Woodpeckers have completed their DT project to design and make a mobile phone/pencil case and we are all so proud of the determination and resilience they have shown to problem solve through this journey. In Year 5, we began thinking about our changing bodies in RSHE. We were incredibly impressed at the children's maturity and thoughtful questions regarding their feelings about their changing bodies and growing up. In Science, we have been learning about the geocentric and heliocentric theories of our solar system - tough concepts but we were all totally engaged and curious! #lifelongloveof learning.
23 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.
214 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this term.
Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.15%
Current whole school attendance is 95.42%
Our attendance figures this week are as follows:
Well done to all of our classes maintaining 95% or above. Year 3, you have the best attendance of the week, well done!
We would like to end the year with an overall whole school attendance figure of over 96%. This is doable, but we need everyone to help us by being at school every day until the end of the academic year.
If we can smash 96% by the end of the academic year, Mrs Duggin will reward the whole school with a fun, free and fabulous afternoon! How amazing would that be!
Let's do this!
During the last school week, we had 26_incidences of lateness.
Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.
These latenesses range from 5 minutes late to 60 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.
Every child from Year 2 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars
Battle of the Classes
Each week we will display the TTRockstars Class averages to see who is putting in the most effort across the school.
Miss Tucker's Class has had the most players in the last 7 days! Well done :-)
A reminder to all families that from September 2024 our school day will be aligned and all pupils will finish school at 3:30.
Every child from Year 2 upwards has a Spelling Shed account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website Spelling Shed
Here are the latest scores on the whole-school leader board (these scores are based on their total score from the last 7 days):
Well done Alex, what a great score!
Have you tried the new Grammar Arcade on Spelling Shed?
This week, we had a visit from a reading specialist from our local Teaching School Hub. She walked around school to look at reading environments, spoke with pupils, listened to evidence from our reading leaders and was able to soak up our reading culture. We are very pleased to announce that we were awarded The Lincolnshire Silver Reading Pledge award. What an achievement for our reading community!

Our first week of swimming has been a huge success. We hope your little ones have told you all about the fun and learning that took place.
Your child will need their swimming kit and a towel on their swimming days. Please ensure this is in a bag so all pupils can use the toilet before they get changed.
The school has set up an amazon wishlist with a whole host of ideas if anyone would like to donate something to the school. We will write inside the front cover of any books to say who it was donated by, and add the books to our school library. You are invited to donate a book on your child's birthday to mark the special day. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Our 0-5 Moving On Up sessions are on every Thursday in Term 6. Come and join us between 1:15-2:15. No booking required.
Thank you to all of our families for their positive feedback on our new one-way system. We are pleased to have taken on board the comments from our parental survey and to have made this happen, with the support of Wilcox Homes.
It has been just wonderful to welcome so many new families to our lovely school this week. Our induction arrangements for our new Reception cohort have begun with visits to our local nurseries and a stay and play session. It was lovely to see so many confident and happy little people and to meet their adults.
We only have two spaces left in our reception cohort for September....spread the word!
FOMS are asking for sweet donations for their Garden Party tombola. If you can, please send any donations into school with your child in the next few weeks. Thank you!
