Learning Updates

Foundation Stage Children in Reception have been writing Acrostic poems about frogs. Look at their amazing writing after learning facts about them.

Key Stage One This week, we have enjoyed releasing our butterflies into their natural habitats. We are enjoying watching our sunflower seeds flourish in the right growing conditions. We have been writing Minibeast Kenning Poems, and butterfly poetry. In maths, we are becoming experts in halves and quarters! Some classes have even given Drumba a go this week...

Lower Key Stage Two The children have had a great week of learning, celebrating and sharing their knowledge of WWII and showcasing this in a display.   The children have been working on Time in Year 3, whilst year 4 have been focussing on their times tables.  The children had an exciting experience of being an evacuee, and being sent to a different classroom.  We will be discussing the emotions related to this event and the experience of real evacuees from the 1940's.  Finally, the children have enjoyed spending precious time reading our new stock of exciting books in the library.

Upper Key Stage Two Week 5 has been a 'topsy turvy' kind of a week in Upper Key Stage 2.  We 100% commend our Year 6 on how they have admirably approached their end of Key Stage 2 SATs week.  Our young people have stirred our emotions with their 'Team Green' values of resilience and  determination.  No test ever could measure that!  Our Woodpeckers in Y5 arrived on Monday to find their lovely bright classroom displays covered over; they had to move base to allow Year 6 to move in!  Once again,  despite the upheaval, they have impressed us with their maturity in the face of disruption.  In PSHE, we considered how  to identify whether news was 'fake or real'.  Some giggles were had in this session for sure!  We know to Stop, Think, Question and Check when reading  material online.  Our 'Seesaw shout outs' are getting great feedback from children and parents and we are absolutely loving celebrating  our children's hard work and effort.  Term 5 is almost over.  What will Term 6 bring?  We can't wait!

attendance

28 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.

163 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this term.

Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.15%

Current whole school attendance is 95.53%

Our attendance figures this week are as follows:

Mr Edwards' class, you have topped the leaderboard again! Well done!

challenge

We would like to end the year with an overall whole school attendance figure of over 96%. This is doable but we need everyone to help us by being at school every day until the end of the academic year.

If we can smash 96% by the end of the academic year, Mrs Duggin will reward the whole school with a fun, free and fabulous afternoon! How amazing would that be!

Let's do this!

Lateness

During the last school week, we had  25_incidences of lateness.

Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.

These latenesses range from 5 minutes late to 310 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.

TTRockstars

Every child from Year 2 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars

It's time for a TTRockstars shake up!

Each week this term we will be focusing on effort. Mrs Duggin can see how many days each child has logged in and played TTrockstars. Each week she will award house points to each child which equates to the total number of days played that week. If you play every day you can earn a total of 7 house points for your team and maybe a 'quacking' prize if you put in the most effort across the term.

How many house points will you earn in the next 7 days?

Well done to Mr Edwards' Class! So much effort.

Spelling Shed

Every child from Year 2 upwards has a Spelling Shed account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website Spelling Shed

Here are the latest scores on the whole-school leader board (these scores are based on their total score from the last 7 days):

Well done to Liepa, another top place position!

Have you tried the new Mastery Zone game on Spelling Shed?

Year 6 SATs

We couldn't be prouder of our Year 6 children as they've truly exemplified our school values of determination and resilience throughout their SATs tests this week. Witnessing their unwavering commitment to learning and their refusal to give up, even when faced with challenges, has been truly inspiring. Each and every one of them has shown incredible growth and progress, not just academically, but also in their mindset and attitude towards overcoming obstacles. Their hard work and perseverance have paid off, and they should all be immensely proud of themselves. As their teachers, we are honored to have been a part of their journey, and we have no doubt that they will continue to achieve great things in the future.

Now it's time to look forward to the end of the school year, and put on the show of all shows! Watch this space for news on our End of Year performance!

A huge thank you to Mrs Evans and Pizza Plus for the wonderful treats :-)

chill and chat

Miss Coleman has arranged a Chill and Chat session for parents and carers on the following date:

Thursday 23rd May 9 - 10-15am

This session will be led by Kathie Robson (Early Help Consultant) and The Pastoral Support Team.

The session will be focused on how relationships can affect parents, children and family lives.

More details have been shared on Seesaw. If you wish to attend, please reply on Seesaw to confirm your place.

reading and homework expectations

Please take some time to remind your child of the school's expectations for reading and homework. We are seeing an increase in pupils who are not engaging with regular reading at home and this will impact on academic progress. Please help us by making daily reading a habit, the best kind of habit.

Keeping Safe Survey

Keeping Safe LSCP/SLP Primary Survey 2024

We have extended our survey to include voices from KS2 children aged 7-11 which is now open.

The survey focuses on students’ online usage and experience of bullying with a focus on online bullying. We have ran this survey for Secondary students for 4 years now and it has helped us to gain a greater understanding of the app’s students are using and experiencing issues on. This has in turn helped us to focus our preventative education messages. As we now offer a full Online Safety Curriculum to children Year 2 to college we would like to get more children’s voices to inform our work. The more students answering the survey across the county, the clearer picture we can gather to help protect students while the enjoy the many benefits of using the internet. We would ask for your support in getting all KS2 aged students to complete this survey:
