Welcome back

Welcome back, everyone! There has been a real buzz of enthusiasm and determination this week as our pupils and staff returned to school. It's been lovely to hear about all of your adventures from the Easter break and to welcome new families who have started their journey with us this week.

This term is jam packed with fun, learning, growth and experiences. It is a term to embrace challenges and each day is a chance to make progress towards goals and aspirations. It's a big term for our Year 6 pupils as they get to show off their knowledge in end of key stage assessments. We have also welcomed 40 new families to our school who have secured places in our reception classes from September 2024. Transition is just around the corner and we will be starting to think about these steps over the next two terms.

Here's to a term filled with inspiration, achievement, and unforgettable moments. Let's make it one to remember! Welcome back, and let's make the most of every opportunity that comes our way.

attendance

32 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.

Our attendance figures this week are as follows:

Well done to Mr Edward's class!

reporting absences and lateness

Please be reminded that you must report your child's absence to the school office every day they are not at school. This is to ensure we correctly record your child's reason for absence and for safeguarding reasons. When we have not seen your child for a number of days, we may carry out a safe and well check and visit them at home.

If your child has been unwell for a number of days, please seek medical advice and keep us updated daily by making calls to the school office or emailing in.

If your child is late to school, please come into the school office and sign them in, giving the reason for lateness.

Thank you

Lateness

During the last school week, we had  24_incidences of lateness.

Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.

These latenesses range from 5 minutes late to 250 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.

TTRockstars

Every child from Year 3 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars

It's time for a TTRockstars shake up!

Each week this term we will be focusing on effort. Mrs Duggin can see how many days each child has logged in and played TTrockstars. Each week she will award house points to each child which equates to the total number of days played that week. If you play every day you can earn a total of 7 house points for your team and maybe a 'quacking' prize if you put in the most effort across the term.

How many house points will you earn in the next 7 days?

Spelling Shed

Every child from Year 2 upwards has a Spelling Shed account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website Spelling Shed

Here are the latest scores on the whole-school leader board (these scores are based on their total score from the last 7 days):

Well done to Liepa! What a great score.

foms

Our one and only Friends of Metheringham School (FOMS) group, made a massive £732 profit after all of their fundraising efforts over the Easter period. This is very impressive and every penny will go back to your pupils. Well done to FOMS and all of our families who bought disco and raffle tickets and prizes. We couldn't do it without you!

FOMS have kindly donated money to pay for Mini First Aid workshops for all classes in school. These will be delivered by an outside provider in Term 5 and Term 6.

trusted adults

Thank you to everyone who has completed the trusted adult permission forms. We are in the process of updating our records. If you have not updated your child's permissions we will assume they have not changed or you do not give permission for anyone other than parents to collect your child from school. Thank you

Amazon wishlist

The school has set up an amazon wishlist with a whole host of ideas if anyone would like to donate something to the school. We will write inside the front cover of any books to say who it was donated by, and add the books to our school library. You are invited to donate a book on your child's birthday to mark the special day. Thank you for your ongoing support.

stay safe survey for KS2 Pupils

Keeping Safe LSCP/SLP Primary Survey 2024

The community Safety Partnership at Lincolnshire County Coucil are asking for as many KS2 pupils as possbile to complete the following online safety survey. Please spend a few minutes with your child to complete the survey if you can.

The survey focuses on students’ online usage and experience of bullying with a focus on online bullying. We have ran this survey for Secondary students for 4 years now and it has helped us to gain a greater understanding of the app’s students are using and experiencing issues on. This has in turn helped us to focus our preventative education messages. As we now offer a full Online Safety Curriculum to children Year 2 to college we would like to get more children’s voices to inform our work. The more students answering the survey across the county, the clearer picture we can gather to help protect students while the enjoy the many benefits of using the internet. We would ask for your support in getting all KS2 aged students to complete this survey: https://forms.gle/MukAFsSzNUovphD68

author visit

This week we had a very special visit from a local author, Bethany Walker. We enjoyed workshops, assemblies, story times and even book signings! Bethany showed us how her wonderful ideas come to life, with the help of her illustrators. We loved seeing how the illustrator creates the main characters visual imagery! Thank you Bethany for a truly inspiring day!
