Learning updates

Foundation Stage The children in Early Years had a surprise this week when Harmston Young Farmers brought a tractor to school.  They all got to climb in and experience what it is like to sit in a tractor.  They also brought in two adorable lambs that were only a week old!

Key Stage One This week KS1 have been showing what they know in their maths, writing and grammar. We are so proud of the skills they have shown us; hard work, determination, resilience and many more! Well done KS1. We have also enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day and celebrating all things reading. We are very excited to explore Science next week during British Science Week.

Lower Key Stage Two The children in year 3 and 4 have had a fun very busy week.  On Thursday, along with the rest of the school, we enjoyed dressing up to celebrate World Book Day.  There were some great characters and some very creative words being represented.  We were lucky to have a visit from our local MP Dr Caroline Johnson, as part of our PSHE learning about communities and responsibility. The children asked lots of relevant questions ranging from 'Why are there pot holes?' to 'What is your salary?' The production of Jack and the Beanstalk is well underway, props are ready and most costumes are in.  Tickets are selling out fast on Parent Pay which is incredible.  The children can't wait to perform!

Upper Key Stage Two Week 3 in Upper Key Stage 2 has once again been a super busy one.  In the Woodpeckers Year 5/6 class, our "Floodland" English unit has culminated in a persuasive speech (in the character of Dooby), which some children delivered to the class. They are also recording these for Seesaw, so parents can enjoy them too. We've been especially pleased with how the children's oracy skills have developed through this, since they used clear voices, good volume and made eye contact with their audience.  On Tuesday, we joined in with the 'Moon and Mars' - a live interactive science show. It gave us a good reason to discuss careers and routes into them.  We believe we have a few budding astronauts and engineers in the making!

attendance

40 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.

193 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this term.

Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.15%

Current whole school attendance is 95.54%

Our attendance figures this week are as follows:

Wow, Mr Edwards class what an achievement! An extra playtime is awarded to you.

Lateness

During the last school week, we had  17_incidences of lateness.

Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.

These latenesses range from 5 minutes late to 190 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.

TTRockstars

Every child from Year 3 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars

Each issue we will list the latest leader board for Times Tables Rockstars. To get on the leader board, you need to play 'studio' on TTRockstars and you need to play at least ten times.
