Learning updates

Foundation Stage Foundation Stage children have been learning about one less than a number. They explored this concept using ten frames and by writing the numbers that are one more and one less using their previous learning.

Key Stage One Key Stage One have wowed us in their super performance of their nativity production: The Twinkly Nativity. They have performed every day with impressive singing, dance moves and loud speaking voices. They have shown confidence, resilience and supported one another and we are so proud of them. They gave us twinkle and sparkle and have shone like the superstars that they are. Well done Key Stage One.

Lower Key Stage Two This week, year 3 and 4 have been on an adventurous journey around the globe - the focus of our new English learning. Journey by Aaron Becker, has allowed the children to explore exciting locations around the world, imagining what it would be like to go on a magical, mystical Journey.   In maths, year 3 and 4 have been busy practising multiplication and division.   The teachers have been impressed by the children's enthusiasm for their homework this week which asked the children to design a maths game, to be played at school.  The teachers are looking forward to some creative ideas! The children have enjoyed making compasses and learning about invisible forces in Science.  Whilst in PE, it's been all about the show, as the children have been creating circus themed routines to the 'Greatest Showman.'   The children have begun to get in the Christmas mood when they were lucky enough to watch Key Stage one's Nativity on Monday, surely the highlight of the week!

Upper Key Stage Two Has the winddown to Christmas started yet? No way! UKS2 are way to busy for that……just yet, anyway. In maths, the children have been tackling, head on, square numbers, cube numbers and prime numbers, leaving no prisoners! We’re so proud of their determination and resilience with these mathematical functions. Music has been filling every corner of the school this week; mainly with KS1 singing their little hearts out in their Nativity, but also with UKS2 children. The year 5s continue to master playing the agogos, tambourines, shakers and surdos, whilst the remaining children have been performing to Mrs Duggin, no less, their singing performance which they have been perfecting that little bit more each and every week.

attendance

83 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.

Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.15%

Current whole school attendance is 96.08%

Our attendance figures for week 6 of term 2 are as follows:

Well done to Mrs Fulbrook's Class for their excellent attendance this week. We only had 3 classes this week that acheived our expected attendance of 95% or better. We hope everyone who has been poorly this week makes a speedy recovery and feels better soon.

Lateness

During the last school week, we had  36_incidences of lateness.

Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.

These latenesses range from 5 minutes late to 115 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.

TTRockstars

Every child from Year 2 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars

Each issue we will list the latest leader board for Times Tables Rockstars. To get on the leader board, you need to play 'studio' on TTRockstars and you need to play at least ten times.

Please find the current leader board and the class 'top rockers'.

Well done to David who has rocked his way onto the top 10!

Spelling Shed

Every child from Year 2 upwards has a Spelling Shed account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website Spelling Shed

Here are the latest scores on the whole-school leader board (these scores are based on their total score from the last 7 days):

Super spelling everyone! It's good to see new names on the top ten!

Christmas Fayre

Congratulations to Mrs Penrose who won the Christmas hamper. At the Christmas Fayre, her granddaughter chose the number 7, which turned out to be very lucky.

Our Christmas cake winner was Parker in Year 1. The cake was made by the very talented Mrs Evans. I'm sure it will be enjoyed over the festive period.

So far, we have counted a profit of £1300 from our Christmas Fayre. This is incredible and we still have some little extras to add to this. Thank you all so much!

Metheringham Christmas Market and Light Switch on

Our KS2 and Infant choir attended the Metheringham Christmas Market on Sunday. They sang their songs with pride and full of festive cheer. The snowy weather made it very magical indeed. It was fantastic to see such a huge turn out from the community. We hope you all had fun seeing Santa and exploring the market.

Christmas Postbox

Our Christmas postbox will be outside the library and in the KS1 corridor from Monday. If you would like to write Christmas Cards for your class, please see Seesaw for a list of first names. Please ensure the class name is on each envelope, this will help our little elves with their deliveries.

Magical Maths

KS2 pupils are able to sign up for Magical Maths in Term 3 now! Please see the leaflet that came home with your child for more information. We've heard so much about this company and how they inspire a love of maths. We can't wait to get started.

Parent survey

Thank you for the responses to our recent parent survey. We received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback and some good points for consideration. It was good to see that the majority of the areas for development are things we are already working on. Please find a wordcloud of all of the things you love about our wonderful school.

We will share more detailed results on the school website in the new year.

Mrs Whitehouse

Chair of Governors

Co-Op Community Champion

Our Metheringham Lincolnshire Co-op branch will be raising funds for our school from 3rd December 2023 – 2nd March 2024. Please support us by purchasing in store if you can.

Green Ambassadors Toy Gift Appeal

We would like to spread Christmas cheer. We are asking families to donate any unwanted toys or gifts which are in good condition. We will then organise the items into categories to gift to others. Originally we were hoping to gift everything to charity who would re-gift them to a family in need. However, charities will only gift new bought items. Therefore, we have a new plan...we are going to hold a school stall with free gifts on the last week of term. Any items not gifted will be taken to a charity shop.

Please look at seesaw for more information.

Merry Christmas!

The Green Ambassadors.
