Staffing update

Our long serving Clerk to The Governors has decided, with a heavy heart, to step down from her role. We wish Leanne lots of happiness and thank her for her expertise, organisation, commitment and support. She has guided past and present senior leaders and governors through good and challenging times and for this we are forever grateful and we thank her.

We have appointed Mr Craig Ferguson to the role of Clerk. He has come highly recommended and we very fortunate to appoint someone so experienced to this role.

In Term 2, we welcome Mr Ferguson, Mrs Goodwin and Miss Hawkins to Team Green.

Learning updates

Foundation Stage Reception children have enjoyed exploring repeated pattern this week in Maths. They used 2D shape, autumnal objects and musical instruments to identify and create pattern in different ways.

Key Stage One This week, we have been having lots of fun during our Inspire Week! We have enjoyed Drumba, art, dance, drama and learning sign language! I wonder if the children can show you any of their new learning? Here are some pictures of our practical maths learning this week.

Lower Key Stage Two LKS2 have had a fantastic week this week. Kicking it off with our Drumba experience which was so much fun! We continued the week with some music where Y4 enjoyed getting out the glockenspiels for a mini class performance. In English we have all written a story opener to create suspense. So many stories have left us on the edge of our seats wanting to find out what happens next! In maths, Y4 have been exploring column subtraction using place value counters which has definitely helped us understand why we exchange.  Finally, we were all exhausted after our long autumn walk on Thursday but we had so much fun!

Upper Key Stage Two It's the final week of term! Oh my days - where has this term gone?! This week has been 'Inspire Week', and what a week of inspiration it's been. The week started with a Drumba session. A what session??? I'll explain. It's a cross-curricular class that delivers music and PE in one session. Drumba inspires all children with any ability to participate and have fun in exercise. There was a sea of smiles in the Hall and a few sweaty faces! The children have also been engaging with their creative side; immersing themselves into the world of Clarice Cliff, an English ceramic artist. After learning about and creating an information piece about Clarice Cliff's life and career, the UKS2 children got their fingers dirty, designing and creating their own artwork, using 'Bizarre' (1927) as an influence. It's been wonderful to see the children designing their plates and painting them using oil pastels. It's half term now children - you've survived Term 1 - well done! We're so proud of how you've settled into UKS2 life and we look forward to continuing the journey with you all next term. Rest up!

We have sent all families a letter to update them on their child's current level of attendance. A huge thank you to everyone who is helping the school to shine with good attendance.

Parent Consultations

Thank you for your feedback and positivity during parent consultations. We appreciate the recognition of high standards and a successful Term 1.

A few parents have asked for their positive feedback to be shared with staff. If you would like us to do this then please ping an email to enquiries@metheringham.lincs.sch.uk with your message and we will forward this on. The loveliness makes a huge difference to our day so it's always welcome no matter how small.

Sponsored Non-Uniform and walk

At the last count, we raised a massive £1203 for our sponsored Autumn Walk and Non-Uniform Day. This support means we can purchase a full class set of Ipads which replace our current set that can no longer support apps. Thank you to our wonderful community for pulling together and to GSB Service Prep for their huge contribution that pushed us over our target.

Scarecrow Competition

Yes, we've done it again. Our Eco Warriors have entered the Doddington Hall Scarecrow Competition. The theme this year was 'sustainability' so our eco group were the ones for this job! Our school scarecrow will be on display from Monday 23rd October. Please tag us on X in any photos of your visits to see the scarecrows. Fingers crossed for another successful entry.

Inspire Week

What a great end to Term 1. We have inspired pupils with active Drumba sessions, an introduction into diving and engineering, outdoor adventures and creative arts. Here's what the children had to say:
