Lower Key Stage Two LKS2 have made a fantastic start to the new term! In Geography, we have been revisiting the seven continents and exploring the countries of the United Kingdom. In English, we have been writing instructions and investigating the mystery of a possible Grass Goblin! In Maths, we have been developing our addition and subtraction skills using the column method. In Whole Class Reading, we have started The Pebble in My Pocket, making links to our previous Science learning and discovering more about Earth’s history. We are also excited to begin our new Science topic on electricity, where we will be exploring circuits and learning how they work. Well done, LKS2, for returning with such enthusiasm and a positive attitude to learning! We are looking forward to another exciting term.
Upper Key Stage Two We have made a fantastic start to the new term in UKS2. In English, we are exploring the poem The Door and developing our understanding of poetic language and imagery. Whole Class Reading has focused on wartime themes, including life during World War II and Wilfred Owen’s Dulce et Decorum Est.
In Maths, we have begun our fractions unit, exploring equivalent fractions and simplification. Computing has focused on online safety and cyberbullying, while Science has introduced our new topic on electricity and circuits. In Geography, we have started learning about North America, exploring its climates, time zones and geographical features.
We also enjoyed an inspiring STEM workshop, STEM With Wings: Sky to Sea, which encouraged curiosity, creativity and problem-solving. It has been a busy and productive start to the term, and we look forward to seeing the children continue to grow in confidence and curiosity over the coming weeks.
