Lower Key Stage Two What a busy and exciting week we have had in LKS2!
In English, we have been working hard on our shared story writing and getting ready to write our own independent stories. We can’t wait to read all about the exciting adventures our main characters will go on. Let your imaginations run wild, LKS2!
In History, we have been learning all about the Bronze Age and are looking forward to our final lesson, where we will explore the Iron Age. What an incredible journey through time we have been on!
In PSHE, we have been thinking about different types of families, what makes a good friend and how we can be good friends to others. We have been sharing ideas about kindness, friendship and what makes our relationships special.
We were also incredibly lucky to welcome author Matt Goodfellow into school this week for a fantastic poetry workshop! We learnt that poetry doesn’t have to follow rules and that we can use our own experiences and personalities as inspiration for our writing. We created some amazing poems all about ourselves and how wonderful it is to be us! It was a brilliant opportunity to celebrate our individuality and creativity.
Well done, LKS2, for another fantastic week of learning, imagination and hard work. We can’t wait to see what next week brings!
Upper Key Stage Two Our highlight of the week was undoubtedly an inspirational visit from poet Matt Goodfellow, who left the children spellbound with his incredible oracy and performance! In English, we have been stretching and snapping sentences to explore how varying sentence length can create impact and engage the reader. Maths has been full of practical whiteboard investigations as we explored factors, common factors, rules of divisibility and prime numbers. During whole-class reading, we discovered how a question matrix can help us think more deeply about Rosa Parks’ biography by exploring increasingly challenging question types. In music, Year 5 enjoyed singing and playing along to George Ezra, learning to change chords as they performed. We are looking forward to next week’s exciting Inspire Week and the start of our William Morris-inspired art unit!
