Learning updates

Foundation Stage Children in Reception have been sewing owl key chains as part of their DT learning. What wonderful sewing skills Chicks and Robins!

Key Stage One We have had another fantastic week in KS1! In Geography, we created maps of our school, thinking carefully about which features we needed to include and how to represent them on a map. In DT we created our very own bug hotels, considering how to create suitable habitats for minibeasts inside a plastic bottle! We have also continued to enjoy our swimming and tennis sessions. It has been wonderful to spend time learning outdoors, developing new skills and making the most of the lovely weather. The children have been taking time to connect with one another by sharing and finding out about each other's favourite things. Well done to all of our KS1 children for another week of taking pride in their learning, showing courage to try new things and showing kindness to others!

Lower Key Stage Two

This week has been full of plants, poetry and practising skills. The children have been working in teams to investigate plant growth and variables which impact development. They have created their own observation sheets using Google Slides, photographing and observing changes to their plants each week. It has been wonderful to see the children working independently to make their own decisions for on-going observation. We have finished our poetry unit and celebrated with a class book of poems so that everyone can read and enjoy them. The pride demonstrated was excellent. We are thrilled to see that children still working through the times table challenges to keep skills sharp for the next stage in their learning.

Upper Key Stage Two

Our time has been full of enriching experiences and opportunities for pupils to demonstrate both their learning and their personal development. Year 5 and 6 thoroughly enjoyed their Roots to Food experience last week, showcasing excellent teamwork, communication and practical cooking skills while working collaboratively and supporting one another throughout the session. The school Garden Party and Year 6 games were real highlights, with pupils showing enthusiasm, teamwork and pride in their school. Across these events, children demonstrated important personal skills such as volunteering their time, supporting others, and contributing to successful fundraising efforts, all while maintaining exemplary conduct that reflected their pride in our school community. We also took part in a live assembly in response to pupil voice, where children requested more information about artificial intelligence; they spoke; we listened. In RSHE, Year 5 explored the emotional and physical changes associated with puberty, and the opportunity to ask questions in a safe and supportive environment proved invaluable. It remains essential that we listen carefully and respond in a factual, age-appropriate way, ensuring children are able to learn from reliable sources rather than turning to the internet for information that may not always be accurate.

summer disco

The FOMS Summer Disco, on Thursday 16th July 2026, is now available to book on Parent Pay. Year 6 children have an earlier arrival time so Mrs Duggin can capture leavers photos before the main event.

All tickets are £2.50 and are only available on Parent Pay. The deadline for ticket ordering is Tuesday 14th July.

Summer Reading Challenge 2026 – Read to the Beat!

This summer, why not join the Summer Reading Challenge: Read to the Beat at your local Lincolnshire Library? Running from 4th July to 6th September, children aged 4–11 can enjoy a free reading challenge, exciting rewards and fun weekly activities inspired by music and stories. changes to free school meals

Free school meal eligibility is changing. What does this mean for you?

If you have previously applied for Free School Meals via the LCC website and your details remain the same, you do not need to do anything else at the moment.

If you have not previously applied, even if your child is currently receiving free meals in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, please apply by visiting lcc.cloud.servelec-synergy.com/SynergyWeb/PortalHome/

Please note, once your child has their updated status, this will last for a full school year. The status will only be changed if a re-check is requested by a parent/carer or school.

If your child (from Year 3 upwards) currently receives FSM, and after re-checking is not entitled to free meals from September, please ensure you have made arrangements for lunches upon their return in September.

Woodhall Spa Festival of Storytelling – 10th–12th July 2026

Calling all book lovers and budding storytellers! This July, Woodhall Spa is hosting its very first Festival of Storytelling – a fantastic weekend packed with inspiring authors, interactive storytelling, creative workshops, music, poetry, story walks and activities for the whole family.

It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading, spark imaginations and encourage a lifelong love of books. We hope lots of our children and families will take the opportunity to go along and enjoy this exciting community event! Don't forget to share photos with us on Seesaw.

reports and class information

This year, reports will be sent home electronically. Please check your emails on Friday 10th July to view your child's report. If you wish to discuss anything in your child's report, you can do this my making an appointment with the class teacher.

Class information will be sent home on Wednesday 15th July.

garden Party

A huge thank you to our amazing FOMS team for organising such a fantastic Garden Party. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying a brilliant afternoon together.

There was plenty to enjoy, including Year 6 garden games, Beat the Goalie, a delicious BBQ, the sweet tombola, a visit from the RAF, and fantastic performances from our talented pupils on stage.

This year we invited external stallholders who added an extra sparkle of glitter to the event. We hope you enjoyed these additions.

A heartfelt thank you to the FOMS committee, volunteers, staff and everyone who supported the event. Your hard work and generosity made it such a memorable success and continue to make a real difference to our school community.

We will let you know the final profit raised in the coming days.

FOMS are working closely with the school to give back to the children before the end of the academic year.

We would like to applaud our School Council members for their outstanding commitment and conduct in planning and running their stall at the Garden Party. Throughout the process, they generously gave up their time each week to work collaboratively, gather ideas from their classmates and turn these into a creative and engaging stall. They demonstrated excellent organisational skills by collecting equipment, liaising with staff and volunteering their own time to ensure the stall was a success. During the event, they represented the school exceptionally well, interacting with members of the public and one another in a welcoming, respectful and confident manner. They embodied our school values of Honesty, Curiosity, Pride, Courage and Kindness, showing what it means to be responsible Little Leaders and active members of our school community. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, teamwork and dedication. Thank you School Council.

ice cream van

We have arranged a special treat on Wednesday 15th July. An ice cream van will be coming to school. All children are asked to bring £1 in cash to purchase a cold, scrummy treat. If your child does not have £1, we will assume you don't want them to take part.

moving up

Our moving up transition morning will take place on Monday 20th July. This is an opportunity for classes to meet their new teacher and spend time in their new classrooms. New class Seesaw codes will be sent home on the same day. Please login to find information about your child's new class and teacher.

uniform shop

Please find a reminder about school uniform in preparation for the September uniform shop:

• Children are expected to wear school uniform Monday to Friday.

• Class teachers will provide parents with PE days for each term, and it is expected that PE kit is worn on those days of the week.

• If your child has a sporting after school club and it is not their PE day, this should be brought in a bag for them to change into.

Our school uniform consists of the following:

• White shirt or polo shirt (with or without school logo)

• Emerald green sweatshirt or cardigan (with or without school logo)

• Black trousers, skirt or pinafore dress

• Black cotton shorts or green gingham dress for the summer months

• Black socks or tights

• Black (or mostly black) flat-soled shoes are encouraged so pupils can be as active as possible at breaktimes. Shoe laces must be black.

• Book bag with logo in KS1, optional in KS2

PE Kit

• Green T-shirt (with or without logo)

• Black shorts (must be visible below a T-Shirt)

• Black (or mostly black) trainers. Laces must be black.

• Black or mostly black tracksuit for use during winter months (no hoodies)

For safety reasons, no jewellery of any kind is to be worn during PE sessions.

Little Troopers

As part of our Armed Forces Day celebrations, our KS2 Little Troopers visited RAF Digby’s Ops Museum. They discovered the important role RAF Digby played during the Second World War and learned about the bravery, dedication and teamwork of the personnel who served there. The visit gave pupils a fascinating insight into the history of the station, the vital operations carried out from the site.

pets as therapy charity

We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with the Pets as Therapy charity during the next academic year. Tanya has become a much-loved member of our school community.

During periods of warm weather, we work closely with her owner to ensure that conditions in school are suitable for her welfare. Adaptations are made to support her on warmer days, but if temperatures become too high, her sessions are cancelled and she will not attend school. We have explained this to the current group working with Tanya so that they understand why she may occasionally be absent.

school council visit

Our School Council had a fantastic opportunity to visit the County Council Chambers, where they experienced democracy on a much larger scale than they are used to within school. Sitting in the council chamber, the children discussed and debated real issues, confidently sharing their ideas and listening respectfully to the views of others. Their thoughtful contributions, excellent manners, and mature approach impressed not only the Chairman of the County Council but also the councillors present, making it a memorable and inspiring experience for everyone involved.
