This term has been packed with exciting opportunities and fantastic achievements across the school!
We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils, who approached SATs Week with determination, resilience and maturity. This has been the case throughout their school years. We celebrated their success with pizza and cake. It was a true pleasure to see them fly during these assessments.
Sports Day was a wonderful celebration of teamwork and sportsmanship, with pupils giving their best effort and cheering one another on. Year 5 and 6 also enjoyed a fascinating visit to Gibraltar Point, taking part in valuable outdoor learning experiences.
Our Year 2 children had a brilliant time at the Multi-Skills Event, demonstrating fantastic energy and cooperation, while World Book Night helped inspire a love of reading across the school.
Alongside these memorable events, pupils have continued to impress us every day with their hard work, creativity and enthusiasm for learning both inside and outside the classroom. It has truly been a brilliant term for everyone!
I'm not sure where this term or year has gone. We are already preparing for Term 6, transition, many more trips and experiences and end of year celebrations.
44 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.

If you would like to gift a book to school for a special occasion or 'just because', please see our Amazon Wishlist for some ideas. All books donated are marked with a special 'gifted by...' message and added to our library.
We had a fantastic Sports Day filled with energy, teamwork and school spirit! Children enjoyed track races, field events, team-building activities and the KS2 bleep test, showing wonderful kindness, resilience, pride and courage throughout the day.
FOMS were pleased to support the event by selling refreshments and pre-loved uniform, raising an amazing £215.77 for our school community. They were also delighted to present every child with a medal and an iced treat to celebrate their efforts.
A huge thank you to Mrs Jones, our PE Coordinator, for organising such a successful event, and to our wonderful community for creating such a positive atmosphere.
Special thanks to Dyson’s Farm and the Blakemore Foundation for their generous strawberry donations.

We are very excited to be launching the WOW Walk to School Challenge with the support of our friends at Living Streets. As a school, thriving people and a thriving place are key priorities for us. This initiative brings these priorities to life. The Wow challenge encourages active lifestyles, keeps cars away from the school gates and helps us on our sustainability mission.
National Walk to School Week is running between 18th and 22nd May. This is the perfect opportunity for us to launch the challenge in school.
From May 18th, children will input how they travelled to school each day on classroom travel trackers. Each method of active travel will help them work towards a badge at the end of the month. At least one day of active travel per week will be required to be awarded a badge at the end of the month.
Please check your email for more information and to see a bubble map which includes 5 minute and 10 minute suggestions for park and stride.
On Tuesday 19th May, we will be taking part in Happy Shoes Day.
Children are encouraged to come to school wearing any shoes that make them feel happy. These could be:
• Bright or colourful
• Sparkly or patterned
• Sporty or comfy
• Or even a little bit silly!
We will be sending photographs of the happiest shoes to our Friends at Active Travel Lincolnshire for a chance to win prizes.

Metheringham Gym Snowdon Challenge fundraiser is taking place on 14th June 2026.
The community team will be climbing Mount Snowdon via the Watkins Path to help raise money in support of Metheringham Pre-School and the amazing work it does within our community ❤️
They would really appreciate any help raising money for our much loved pre-school.

Please support FOMS with their next end of term pop up event:
The FOMS team are looking for stall holders to have a pitch at the Summer Garden Party. The event is on Thursday 25th June 2026 running from 15.00-17.00, set up is from 14.30. The cost would be £20 per stall, with the business keeping all their own profits from the day. All business wishing to participate must have a Public Liability (PL) Insurance certificate.

The FOMS team already have stalls selling sweets, drinks, burgers, ice creams, cakes, glitter tattoos and face painting so stalls providing alternatives are needed.
The government is planning changes to the School Food Standards, and this is your opportunity to share your views before the changes are introduced 🍎
Your feedback will help to:
· Improve the quality and variety of school meals
· Support children’s health and wellbeing
· Highlight parents’ concerns and priorities
· Shape future decisions about school food
The survey is quite long, but you can skip questions and there is also an easy-read version available. What matters most is sharing your views on the areas you feel strongly about - your voice really can make a difference.
