Lower Key Stage Two This week in Years 3 and 4, we have been showing so much pride while writing up our English stories – we can’t wait for you to see them at Parents’ Evening! It has been wonderful to see how much our handwriting and grammar skills have improved. The children have worked incredibly hard, and it really shows in their final pieces. In Year 3 Maths, we have been learning how to divide 2-digit numbers by a 1-digit number. We used counters to help us clearly see what is happening when we divide, which has really supported our understanding. The children have done so well that we have now moved on to exploring division with remainders! In RE, we have finished our topic by comparing Christian values with our own ideas about what it means to ‘live a good life’. We discovered that our school values play a very important role in helping us to live well and make positive choices. We've also been considering different career options in PSHE and came up with lots of ideas. We also took part in a brilliant online safety workshop, where we compared ourselves to superheroes! We learnt about what should and should not be shared online in order to keep ourselves safe.
Upper Key Stage Two It’s been a brilliant end to the half term in UKS2! Our Talk for Writing poetry unit is now complete, and the children have produced some beautiful poems that really showcase their understanding of imagery through the use of metaphors. This week also marked Children’s Mental Health Week, and we’ve had some very mature and thoughtful discussions around the theme of belonging. We also took part in online safety workshops, where the children learned how to stay safe and make positive choices when using the internet and social media. The children have now finished their Religion and Worldviews unit on Rosh Hashanah, and we’re so impressed with how much they have retained – our floor books truly show their love of learning about this worldview. In PE, tag rugby and gymnastics have come to an end, finishing with exciting house competitions where every point counts towards the end-of-term totals. We’re already busy planning for next term, and for our Year 6s, the big highlight will definitely be the residential! Have a wonderful and well-deserved half-term break, everyone!
