Lower Key Stage Two It has been lovely welcoming everyone back after the half term break. The children are really busy publishing their wonderful suspense stories and are demonstrating pride, resilience and enjoyment. In science, the children have started learning about solids, liquids and gases which has sparked lots of great scientific discussions. The times table challenge booklets are being tackled well and children are learning the facts for fluency- keep this up everyone! Well done for a great first week back.
Upper Key Stage Two We’ve had a calm and happy start to the new term, with children settling back beautifully into routines. It’s been lovely to see familiar faces return with confidence and enthusiasm. The children know their staff well and have clearly built strong, trusting relationships that make our classroom such a positive and supportive place to learn. We began the week by completing our Clarice Cliff art unit, and the children were rightly proud of their vibrant, detailed work inspired by her distinctive designs. This theme has continued into English, where our new Talk for Writing unit focuses on biographies. We’re learning the model text all about the life of Clarice Cliff — a perfect link to our recent art project! In Maths, the Woodpeckers have been exploring squared, cubed, and prime numbers, using plenty of practical resources to help make the learning memorable and meaningful.
Our School Council has already been busy, starting to plan exciting fundraising ideas for Children in Need — more details to come soon! A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our Remembrance poppy appeal this week, and well done to the school councillors for your hard work in helping to sell the poppy merchandise.
Finally, a big congratulations to Year 5 for taking part in the Road to RIAT STEM Challenge — a fantastic opportunity to apply science and engineering skills in a creative and practical way.
