Foundation Stage The Reception children have been developing their understanding of estimation while also developing their critical thinking skills. They have been using everyday objects to make sensible guesses to see how many cubes it would take to fill a jar or how many cubes it would take to measure their shoe!
Key Stage One It's been a fantastic couple of weeks in Key Stage One. We have wowed the teachers and even visitors to the school with our wonderful story telling in English and have loved beginning to learn some nonsense poetry for our next topic! In music, Year 2 are very excited to prepare for a concert to other classes where we are hoping to sing and play the glockenspiel for the rest of the key stage.
Lower Key Stage Two This week in LKS2, we’ve had a wonderfully creative and engaging few days across the curriculum. In Design and Technology, the children have been busy designing and building prototypes, using levers to bring their own moving creatures to life. In English, we’ve begun writing non-chronological reports, with pupils carefully planning and organising their ideas to produce informative and well-structured pieces. In Music, Year 4 have continued to enjoy learning the recorder and have even started composing their own pieces. Year 3 have been enthusiastically practising their Djembe drumming in preparation for an upcoming performance — the rhythm and energy have been fantastic! The children also showed great maturity during our PSHE Day, engaging thoughtfully with a range of important topics and discussions. Our week was rounded off with a real celebration of reading: the children loved exploring the book fair ahead of next week’s exciting event, and one of the highlights was our Booknic — a special moment to relax and share a favourite book.
Upper Key Stage Two We’ve had a lively and enriching week here in Upper Key Stage 2! Excitement is building as dress rehearsals are in full swing for our upcoming show—children have been honing their oracy, speaking and listening, and drama skills, and we can’t wait to share their hard work with families next week. Our Scholastic Book Fair Week got off to a fantastic start, launched by our passionate Reading Ambassadors during a special assembly, with two of our talented Woodpeckers delivering their parts in their own unique and memorable style. The fair was a huge success, with many pupils eagerly adding to their book wish lists—and quite a few parents’ wallets feeling a little lighter! RSHE Day proved to be an important learning experience, as pupils explored the physical and emotional changes of adolescence. Year 6 also deepened their understanding of conception, pregnancy and birth, gaining insight into the responsibilities that come with becoming a parent. A reminder that Friday 11th July will be the final homework of the year—UKS2, you’re almost there! Just a week and a half to go until a well-earned summer break.

Wow, well done everyone!
If you would like to gift a book to school for a special occasion or 'just because', please see our Amazon Wishlist for some ideas. All books donated are marked with a special 'gifted by...' message and added to our library.
There will be a book fair in the school hall on Monday 14th July. If you would like to purchase a book, please come along and browse the selection. This is a cashless event and will require payments to be made online via QR codes displayed in the school hall. You can beat the queues by purchasing online before the event.
All profits equate to free books for school.
Our Splash-a-fun event, in collaboration with Metheringham Swimming Pool, takes place on Sunday 13th July. Be at the school during your classes timeslot to splash around and raise money for our community pool.
Staff will be there throughout the day to cheer you all on.
Thank you for all of the support that has gone into making this year's swimming programme a huge success. The children have learnt so many new skills, grown in confidence in the water and had lots of fun along the way. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful facility on our doorstep. A huge thank you to the staff, JB Sports for coaching and to the volunteers at the pool for all of their hard work.
We have arranged a special treat on Wednesday 16th July. An ice cream van will be coming to school. All children are asked to bring £1 in cash to purchase a cold, scrummy treat. If your child does not have £1, we will assume you don't want them to take part.
Our moving up transition morning will take place on Friday 18th July. This is an opportunity for classes to meet their new teacher and spend time in their new classrooms. New class Seesaw codes will be sent home on the same day. Please login to find information about your child's new class and teacher.
Please find a reminder about school uniform in preparation for the September uniform shop:
• Children are expected to wear school uniform Monday to Friday.
• Class teachers will provide parents with PE days for each term, and it is expected that PE kit is worn on those days of the week.
