Blue Peter
We’re excited to welcome everyone back for the final term of the year — and what a term it promises to be! With longer days and plenty of sunshine (we hope!), there’s so much to look forward to.
This term we’re looking forward to a host of special events, including our Summer Garden Party, The Lincolnshire Show, swimming sessions, and lots of exciting visits and experiences.
In classes, there's plenty of time for growth and fun. The summer term curriculum is packed full of interesting topics and hands on exploration.
Year groups will begin their transition activities, and we’ll be enjoying end-of-year celebrations like the FOMS Summer Disco and the fantastic UKS2 performance.
It’s going to be a busy, brilliant term full of memories — let’s make the most of every moment!
Foundation Stage The Chicks and Robins enjoyed a wonderful visit from Bessie the veterinary ambulance.
They had lots of fun going inside the ambulance and seeing what they could use to help the animals get better. They also had fun dressing up and looking at animal bones.
Key Stage One The children in Key Stage 1 have had a lovely start to the term. There was lots of excitement when using clues to guess and make predictions about our English learning. The tin of 'tiger food' gave the game away. The children are thrilled to be exploring The Tiger who came to Tea. The children in Kingfisher class have started learning about telling the time and have really enjoyed making a human clock. This really helped the children to remember the difference between the hour and minute hand as they reflected on who was the tallest (the minute hand) and who was the shortest (the hour hand). In science we are continuing to develop our understanding of plants and what they need to survive. We checked on our beans and we were very pleased to see how well they have grown.
Lower Key Stage Two It’s been a busy and exciting couple of weeks in LKS2! In History, we’ve been learning about the Anglo Saxons and exploring the fascinating discovery of Sutton Hoo. We also enjoyed a fantastic trip to Creswell Craggs, where we revisited our Stone Age knowledge and brought our learning to life. This term, our Year 4 pupils have been showing great determination as they prepare for the upcoming Multiplication Tables Check, while all of our learners have been sharpening their skills in the four operations in Maths. In English, imaginations have run wild as we designed our own mythical creatures, ready to inspire some brilliant creative writing. We've also been using story maps to help us learn and retell our new class text. In Science, we’ve launched into our new topic on Light—and it’s already sparked plenty of excitement as we uncover how light works and explore its many wonders.
Upper Key Stage Two This week, Upper Key Stage 2 have been diving into a range of exciting learning activities across the curriculum. In maths, the focus has been on exploring algebra, with pupils also applying their skills in the engaging Bakery Maths Project, where real-world problem-solving has been a key feature. In English, students have been fine-tuning their writing, with particular attention given to crafting detailed and emotive diary entries from the perspective of Mary Anning. Our history lessons have taken us back in time to the Shang Dynasty, where we've been examining their system of writing and understanding why it held such significance in their society. In computing, children have been learning about variables in games, gaining a better understanding of how coding influences gameplay. There’s also been plenty of creativity in the kitchen during Cooking Club, where delicious chocolate flapjacks were made and enjoyed! Finally, there’s been a buzz of excitement as parts for the end-of-year play have been given out and rehearsals have started!

Our school councillors have had a busy and rewarding week as they prepared and delivered a presentation showcasing all the fantastic work they’ve done so far this school year. They confidently shared their achievements and initiatives with two of our school governors, Mr Outhwaite and Mr Wood. The afternoon was rounded off with a well-deserved afternoon tea, celebrating their efforts and leadership.
Our latest online safety newsletter is available now on the school website. It has also been sent to all families via email.
We’re excited to let you know that your child has the chance to apply for a Blue Peter Book Badge – a wonderful way to celebrate their love of reading!
To apply, children must be aged 5 -15 years old and will need your help to complete the application. The process includes creating a BBC child account (each child needs their own), submitting a short review of a book they’ve read, and uploading an illustration of a character or scene from the story. They’ll also be asked to share some of their favourite books and authors.
Applications are submitted online through My Blue Peter, and you’ll need to give permission and read the Privacy Notice before starting.
