Welcome back to school after the Christmas break. While we look forward to a new term filled with learning and growth, we return with heavy hearts following the loss of a beloved member of our school family. Support will be available for pupils and staff who may be struggling during this time, and we encourage anyone in need to reach out. Let us honor her memory by fostering a community of kindness and care as we move forward together in 2025 and beyond.

Foundation Stage Children in Foundation Stage have been enjoying their learning on The Gingerbread Man. They loved role playing the story and using ginger-smelling playdough to make gingerbread men.
Key Stage One This week, we have been using our excellent knowledge of 2D shapes to make different polygons on geo-boards and used square grids to draw shapes accurately. We have loved learning about birds by observing and quick drawing challenges in art. The children surprised themselves with how much fun speed drawing could be.
Lower Key Stage Two In LKS2 this week, the children have been wonderfully busy and creative! They completed their auditions for the upcoming LKS2 performance, showcasing some truly brilliant talent that we can't wait to share with you. In English, children learned an engaging new text about Mr. Big. They have wowed us with their recall and enthusiasm. To start the new year positively, we have spent time reflecting on personal growth and setting inspiring resolutions and goals for the year ahead. In science, we have been researching healthy, balanced diets and how the Eat-well plate can help us make healthy choices.
Upper Key Stage Two Happy New Year to all of our families. We hope that the start of 2025 has brought you moments of joy and togetherness. However, we write this update with a heavy heart, as we remember a cherished member of our school family who sadly passed away over the holiday break. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with their loved ones during this time.
In English, we’ve started an exciting new unit inspired by Smaug, the infamous dragon from The Hobbit. The children have been captivated by the opportunity to use their previous suspense story learning to write an independent story. In Maths, the children have been working hard to master methods for solving multiplication and division problems. We’ve also tackled long division, and the children have shown real determination in expressing remainders as fractions and decimals. Our History lessons have launched with an exhilarating dive into the world of the Ancient Egyptians. The children have been brimming with curiosity as they explore the incredible achievements of this civilization and their place in the broader timeline of history.
We are so proud of the children’s enthusiasm and resilience as they step into this new term. As always, thank you for your continued support in making our school such a special place for learning and growing together.

Our PAT dog sessions will restart this week. This term, Tanya will be joining us in school every Friday afternoon. We have a new group of children who will be spending time with her each week. Permissions will always be requested prior to any of our pupils working with Tanya. There are lots of children in school who are feeling excited to meet her for the first time. The Happy and Healthy Ambassadors really enjoyed their sessions last term and we hope that Tanya will get to work with many more children over the course of the academic year.
