Foundation Stage Reception children have loved their time in the snow. They even enjoyed making a snowman using their amazing teamwork skills.
Key Stage One How much fun we've had in the snow this week! Snow angels and snowmen could be seen in the Key Stage One area as we enjoyed Tuesday's blanket of snow! It's also been a busy week in the hall for us all as we have started to practise our Nativity, Prickly Hay! It has been so much fun, singing songs all together and watching each other shine as they learn their parts.
Lower Key Stage Two This week has been full of fun and learning! We played in the snow, enjoying the magic of winter. We explored fascinating facts about mountains in the UK, from Ben Nevis to Snowdon. We also memorised our Grass Goblin instructions, sharpening our recall skills. Do you know how to trap a Grass Goblin? The Minister for Goblin Disruption made an appearance in our Hot Seating lesson to share their expertise. Finally, we got creative by writing kenning poems to celebrate what makes each of us unique!
Upper Key Stage Two This week has been filled with excitement and important life lessons at our school! We kicked off Road Safety Week with an assembly, teaching the children valuable tips for staying safe. Look out for further information on being a safe pedestrian as our new JRSO's deliver their first assembly and launch their first competition (prizes available!) Sadly, we had to postpone our planned Road Safety workshop with Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership due to the weather. Our Year 6 pupils took part in a meaningful Anti-Bullying workshop, guided by inspirational young adults with individual needs, fostering empathy and understanding. Winter has arrived, and the sight of snow brought joy and creativity as children built snowmen outside. In class, the Woodpeckers have delved further into into fractions and used our retrieval and inference skills to explore the model text in our Tree Giant English unit. It’s been a memorable, jam-packed week, and there's more to come—but I’ve run out of room!
123 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.
Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.3%
Current whole school attendance is 97.48%
Our attendance figures this week are as follows:
Well done to The Toucans! Great attendance again from the whole school, even during a week of poorliness.
Hello everybody! I'm Miss Pearson and I teach Year 1 and 2. I am also our Science & DT Lead. In my spare time I love anything sporty! I am always busy either playing tennis, going to the gym or dancing. I also love going for walks with my family at RSPB reserves - I really like watching the starling murmurations at this time of year. This is now my third year working at Metheringham and I love being a member of team green. Teaching in KS1 is so much fun, and I am so lucky to have such a wonderful Puffins class.
I would like to remind parents of our parent code of conduct. Our conduct policy can be found on our school website Click Here and I would like to draw your attention to the list of unacceptable behaviours.
Please be reminded that our staffing team and FOMS team are working extremely hard, volunteering time away from their own families at after school events, and should be treated with respect at all times.
Thank you for helping us make the school environment a lovely place to be for everyone.
Mrs Duggin

Well done to this week's top ten!
We are excited to introduce Numbots to our school. Numbots is partnered with TTRockstars and adds a number fluency element to our online maths learning. Watch this parent video Click Here for more information.

Thank you to everyone who supported the FOMS Winter Disco. The children and adults had a brilliant time and made memories for life. A secure link has been shared on Seesaw to some moments captured at the event.
Due to the freezing and snowy weather our photographer had to be rearranged.
We will have a photographer in school on Monday 25th November who will be taking photographs of our wonderful school to include on our school website. These photographs will showcase school, learning, pupils and staff in learning environments around school.
As we already have photo permissions for the website, we do not require anything further from parents. We do ask that children are in full school uniform on the day.
Thank you
Our Happy and Healthy Ambassadors were thrilled to receive a £100 voucher in the post from Lidl. This was something that they applied for earlier in the term and will be used to support them in their work with the school on healthy eating, growing and cooking. They have also taken part in some dog safety training with Mrs South to prepare them for their sessions with our Pets as Therapy (PAT) dog, Tanya, who they will be working with this term. They can't wait to meet Tanya tomorrow.
On Tuesday, we were so lucky to welcome Lincolnshire Young Voices to Metheringham to deliver an Anti-Bullying workshop to Year 6s. Our children listened with interest, respect and understanding as they heard about the vision for Young Voices and the young people and adults with a range of individual needs, including ADHD and Autism, cerebral palsy, wheelchair users to name just a few. They also explored the concept of bullying and how peoples’ differences, both seen and unseen, can make them a target. They finished with ‘top tips’ and advice for dealing with bullying situations. We were so touched by the questions, responses and observations our Y6s made during the workshop and think the impact on them will be long-lasting.
Pupil voice:
"I learned that the disabilities don't matter and to be respectful."
"I was so inspired by the people who came in, what they had been through and how they had overcome challenges."
"I felt really inspired by Alfie because he let comfortable sharing his experiences with us and the disabilities he has. I think that having disabilities makes you unique and special, which is no reason to be bullied for!
Preparations are in full swing for the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas! Our youngest pupils have started their nativity practice. The staff, FOMS and pupils are busy organising crafts, games, songs and much more for our annual Christmas Fayre.
FOMS are asking parents and anyone in the community to make donations of raffle prizes if they are able to. Please spread this message far and wide and hopefully we will have lots of goodies to win on the day. They are also selling raffle tickets via Parent Pay.
Please see the poster for information about our Christmas Fayre that you are welcome to attend next week.
Our advent reading challenge is back by popular demand
A reading challenge has popped up outside our library. Read your home reading book 5 times a week, at home, and you will receive a raffle ticket. Pop your raffle ticket in the box by our advent tree and be in with a chance to be picked to take home and keep a festive story.
One person will be picked each day in December. Let the challenge and countdown commence!
1 raffle ticket can be earned during each of the following weeks:
23rd- 29th
30th-6th
7th- 13th
If you would like to send a Christmas card to your friends, our Christmas postbox will arrive in school on 1st December. Please ensure first names and class names are clear to read. Our elves will be delivering them to classes as the postbox fills up.
An amazing £396 was raised last Friday for Children in Need! A big THANK-YOU to everyone who donated.
