Welcome back to school for Term 2! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable break. This term, we’re excited to dive into new learning adventures, explore fresh ideas, get Christmassy and work together to achieve our best. Let’s bring our curiosity, kindness, and enthusiasm as we make this term a fantastic one.
Here's to a successful and inspiring start to Term 2!
162 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.
Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.3%
Current whole school attendance is 97.64%
Our attendance figures this week are as follows:
Well done to Miss Storr's Class for 100% attendance in the first week of term! An extra fun playtime is awarded to you.
166 pupils achieved 100% attendance in term 1. They all received an excellent attendance certificate and a 100% sticker. This is something we do every term at Metheringham. You have 6 chances to earn this special recognition, one for each term.
Hello! My name is Miss Tucker, and I’m the Year 3/4 teacher here at Metheringham Primary School. This is my sixth-year teaching at our school. I’m also the subject lead for History and Geography, as well as a member of our Eco-Committee. I love exploring history, learning about our planet, and sharing fascinating stories with the children.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, watching my favourite films and shows, and staying active at the gym (Miss Hawkins even convinced me to join her in a doubles Hyrox competition later this month!). I also love spending time with my family, especially my little nephew, and taking long walks with my dog, Ronald. Singing is one of my favourite ways to unwind at home while cooking, tidying up, or just being around the house—though I’m not quite ready for the big stage! I apologize in advance to those of you joining me for Young Voices this year!
Every child from Year 2 upwards has a Spelling Shed account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website Spelling Shed
Here are the latest scores on the whole-school leader board (these scores are based on their total score from the last 7 days):
Wow, look at how much these children have practised over half term!
Every child from Year 3 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars
Battle of the Rockstars
Each week, we will display some stats from across the school to find out who is rocking their times tables. Here is the current whole school leaderboard.
Well done to this week's top ten!
Staff and pupils enjoyed visiting the Eco-Committee's scarecrow on display at Doddington Hall this half-term. They created a wonderfully sustainable scarecrow which stood proudly amongst the entries from other Lincolnshire schools.
Their project this term is to design hedgehog crossing for our friends at Wilcox Homes.

Thank you to FOMS for running a 'just for fun' carve a pumpkin competition today. The front of school was filled with spooktacular pumpkins and prizes were awarded to the best in show. For judging, we welcomed The Haven and John, who happened to be a Great Grandad of one of our pupils.
The winners were: Bonnie, Caleb, Isla, Emilia and Marie
FOMS next event is their annual Winter Disco. Keep reading to find out more about ticket sales.
Thank you to everyone who has signed up to after school clubs in Term 2. All clubs start next week.
Please remember to notify school if there are any changes to club attendance and collection.
If you would like to gift a book to school for a special occasion or 'just because', please see our Amazon Wishlist for some ideas. All books donated are marked with a special 'gifted by...' message and added to our library.
Our School Councillors will be selling Poppy Merchandise after school every day next week. This will be cash donations only. Please visit their stall at the front of school if you would like to purchase Poppy Appeal merchandise.
Every Year we Talk to our pupils about PANTS. Please find some more information to help parents talk PANTS at home too.
Talk PANTS is here to help children understand that they have a right to say no and if they need to speak out about something, someone will listen.
We know that a simple conversation can make a BIG difference, and that’s what Talk PANTS is all about.
More information about Talk PANTS can be found here: Click Here
FOMS Winter Disco tickets are live on ParentPay.....get yours now!

There is some useful information about WhatsApp in this month's issue.
Once again, Team Green are supporting Children in Need this year. The theme is making 'life lighter for children'.
So, how are we going to do this - we're going to fundraise as much as we can so the Children in Need team can help make life as light as possible for all children. The school council will be running the show!
More details will be revealed soon, but for now please know that Friday 15th November will be a non-uniform day, there will be a cake sale AND (new this year) a Team Green Bake Off competition!
