Foundation Stage Children in Reception have been learning how to compare amounts. They filled five frames and used the language ‘more’ and ‘fewer’ to show their understanding of comparing. They enjoyed exploring different amounts using small parts.
Key Stage One Another great week! We loved welcoming the families for maths morning last Friday and have continued learning about different number tracks. The year 2s have been enjoying counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and even 3s! We have enjoyed learning about the Jewish festival of Rosh Hashnanah by tasting bread and honey with apple in R.E. In Art, we enjoyed getting messy and exploring how to use oil pastels. We were learning to use them to make different marks and discovering how the colours can be blended with other colours to change the texture.
Lower Key Stage Two This week, LKS2 have started writing their own stories based on our model text 'The Garden'. In PSHE, we had brilliant discussions about trust and our trust circle. We have also explored yes and no questions to create a branching database in computing (unplugged). Finally, in Science we followed instructions to build a circuit with a switch
Upper Key Stage Two In Upper Key Stage 2, children have been engaged in a wide range of exciting and educational activities. In English, they've been working on their "Reading as a Reader" skills, delving into the story of Zelda Claw, exploring characters, themes, and language to deepen their understanding and enjoyment of the text. In Science, the focus has been on exploring how light travels and how this affects the way we see things, with practical investigations to bring these concepts to life. In Arithmetic, students have been sharpening their skills in both short and long multiplication, building their confidence with larger numbers. During PE lessons, the children have been enjoying netball, developing their teamwork, coordination, and tactical thinking. In French, they've been learning how to ask and tell the time, expanding their vocabulary and practicing key phrases through fun activities. It’s been a busy and productive time for our Key Stage 2 pupils!
200 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.
Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.3%
Current whole school attendance is 97.68%
Our attendance figures this week are as follows:
Well done to Miss Storr's class! Another great week for attendance.
My name is Miss Coleman and I am the Behaviour and Family Mentor at Metheringham Primary School. You will find me based in The Den. I’ve been a member of ‘Team Green’ for almost 7 years.
I am incredibly passionate about helping and supporting the children in school and believe that all behaviours are a form of communication. Helping children regulate their emotions to make school an enjoyable and positive experience for them and others is my main priority.
Out of school I enjoy spending quality time with my 2 children, going to the gym and being outdoors, at the yard with my horse, Dolly……life is never boring with her and she certainly keeps me on my toes!!!
Every child from Year 2 upwards has a Spelling Shed account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website Spelling Shed
Here are the latest scores on the whole-school leader board (these scores are based on their total score from the last 7 days):

It was wonderful to invite our reception families into school for our Harvest celebrations this week. The children led the assembly and performed songs, poems and prayers. They explained the importance of our local community larder and thanked everyone for their donations.
If you would like to gift a book to school for a special occasion or 'just because', please see our Amazon Wishlist for some ideas. All books donated are marked with a special 'gifted by...' message and added to our library.

World Teachers’ Day 2024 is a day of recognition and appreciation for teachers around the world. It’s an occasion to celebrate the profound impact teachers have on our little people.
This year, World Teacher Day is celebrated on Saturday 5th October. We recognised our teachers in achievement assembly today. Be sure to thank your teacher for all they do when you come back to school on Monday.
Please find information about a colouring competition run by Metheringham Fire Station. Colouring sheets will come home with your child today. Please return any entries to school with £1 attached to it by the closing date. There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs and all money goes to a wonderful community cause.
FOMS are planning a Pop up event on Friday 11th October. This will be a Halloween costume swap shop. You can donate old costumes by sending them in to school or bringing them along on the day. You can buy a costume on the day for this years Halloween celebrations. All funds raised by FOMS will go directly to the children.
