Welcome back to school everyone. We hope you had a good summer and found some time to make memories as a family. The children have returned happy, excited and eager to learn. We have also welcomed 38 reception pupils and a number of families who are new to the village have transferred to us over the summer. There is a lovely buzz of excitement around school and it has been brilliant to see so many children wearing their uniform with pride.
The staffing team has grown. We have two trainee teachers working with us, and Mrs Leeks and Mrs South have joined the teaching team. Mrs Weston gave birth to a baby girl over the summer; both her and baby Poppy are doing well. Mrs Gardiner will be working with us as School Business Manager while Mrs Weston is on maternity leave.
The school has become a whole lot greener over the summer as we have installed solar panels using a DFE energy efficiency grant. We are very excited about this journey towards a sustainable future. Access and security has also been upgraded in order to make the school grounds more secure. Many areas of school have had upgrades and look fantastic thanks to our site manager and Team Clean. We look forward to welcoming families into school soon to see their child's learning environment.
We do have an open door policy at Metheringham and staff are always on hand to work with parents to achieve the best possible outcome for their village school and for their children. We know we can't do this without your hard work, communication and support.
We are very excited for the year ahead and continuing to make Metheringham the special place that we all know and love.
