Learning Updates

Foundation Stage Children in Foundation Stage have been sewing sea creatures as part of their topic learning. They have learnt new vocabulary, naming each item that they have used and carefully used wonderful stitching techniques to create finger puppets.

Key Stage One This week Key Stage One children have been getting creative! We have been learning about the artist Kandinsky and learning about the patterns in music. We composed our own pieces of music and using pictures and symbols as  'a score' and played along with musical instruments. We have also been evaluating the strength and suitability of materials in DT, preparing to make 'Bee Hotels' later in the term.

Lower Key Stage Two LKS2 have completed their explanation texts about the water cycle and they were brilliant! Some even featured on our Lincolnshire Show display board. We are now using the story 'The Rhythm of the Rain' to inspire some creative writing. We have spent some time looking and talking about the beautiful illustrations in the story. We were blown away with some of the adventurous vocabulary used to describe the pictures. We have also used our computing skills to create posters to advertise the Garden Party.

Upper Key Stage Two This week, UKS2 has been bustling with activity as our Year 5 and 6 pupils dive into various academic and extracurricular pursuits. Play rehearsals are in full swing, with the children energetically preparing for our upcoming school production. Their dedication and enthusiasm are truly commendable! Meanwhile, the Year 5s are diligently working through their assessments, showcasing their hard-earned knowledge and skills. In English, the Woody Woodpeckers have been exploring the nuances of direct and indirect speech, learning how to effectively convey dialogue and narration, whilst the Eagles have been putting the finishing touches to their non-chronological report plans about the Mayan civilisation. It's a joy to see their growing confidence and proficiency in these areas. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and look forward to sharing more of their achievements with you.

attendance

22 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.

180 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this term.

Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.15%

Current whole school attendance is 95.37%

Our attendance figures this week are as follows:

Well done to all of our classes maintaining 95% or above. Mr Edward's Class, you have the best attendance of the week, well done!

challenge

We would like to end the year with an overall whole school attendance figure of over 96%. This is doable, but we need everyone to help us by being at school every day until the end of the academic year.

If we can smash 96% by the end of the academic year, Mrs Duggin will reward the whole school with a fun, free and fabulous afternoon! How amazing would that be!

Let's do this!

Lateness

During the last school week, we had  27_incidences of lateness.

Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.

These latenesses range from 5 minutes late to 139 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.

TTRockstars

Every child from Year 2 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars

Battle of the Classes

Each week we will display the TTRockstars Class averages to see who is putting in the most effort across the school.

A reminder to all families that from September 2024 our school day will be aligned and all pupils will finish school at 3:30.

Lincolnshire Show schools challenge

This week, our Year 4 students'  set off on an exciting journey to participate in the 2024 Lincolnshire Show Schools Challenge! This annual event brings together schools from across the region to engage in a project, fostering creativity, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of local culture and industry.

This year, our Year 4 students undertook a fascinating project titled "Farming: Then, Now, and in the Future." Through this project, the children explored the evolution of farming practices in Lincolnshire, examining how advancements in technology and methods have transformed agriculture over the centuries.

An integral part of their project was addressing a significant local issue: flooding and its impact on agriculture in Lincolnshire. The students learned about the challenges that floods pose to farmers, including crop destruction and soil erosion.

To tackle this problem, our Year 4 students presented their futuristic designs through models, learning from Science Week, poetry, dance and song, demonstrating their understanding and commitment to solving real-world problems.

The participation of our Year 4 students in the Lincolnshire Show Schools Challenge has been an enriching experience and we are immensely proud of their hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm.

Although we didn't win a prize in this years challenge, it's safe to say an exciting and enriching time was had by all.

Our Lincolnshire Show Project will be on display at the Garden Party next week.
