Learning updates

Foundation Stage The Chicks and the Robins have been to visit the village library this week.  The staff at the library read us a story linked to our science topic.  All the children got to select a book to bring back to school.  We are all looking forward to sharing the stories in class.  We are so lucky to have such a great library in our village with so many exciting books.  Maybe you would like to visit the library with your adults?

Key Stage One Key Stage One have enjoyed getting practical with their maths this week. Year 2 have been enjoying problem solving with measures. We have also loved sharing lots of poetry that has been written at home after being inspired by our visiting poet last week.

Lower Key Stage Two Year 3 and 4 have had a busy week of fun, laughter and drama.  Our school performance of Jack and the Beanstalk was a credit to the children who performed and sang stupendously.  It was amazing to see so many grown-ups come to watch the play and support the children as they challenged themselves to put on an incredible show.  In between performances, the children have been focussing on exploring, creating and writing alternate endings to Jack and the Beanstalks traditional tale.  In science this week the children have been identifying animal groups, specifically vertebrates.

Upper Key Stage Two As we edge closer to the holidays and with Easter just around the corner, thoughts of chocolate, spring and Easter bunnies are filling our thoughts.  However in Upper Key Stage 2, we are still hard at work!

Year 6 have been reminiscing about their adventures at Kingswood, as they prepare for their assembly to share their achievements, facing their fears and all their wonderful memories from their first residential.   Our Year 5's have been focussing on their powerful new English unit based around the biographical drama, "Hidden Figures."  We have asked questions about a topic and used adverbs and conjunctions to connect facts effectively to write a paragraph for a NASA's webpage.   Our maths learning about decimals has been challenging, but as ever, our determined Woodpeckers have embraced their learning and achieved!  In PSHE, we have explored jobs and the range of routes into them.  One thing that stands out this week is that the Woodpeckers are now showing such strong and mature learning behaviours.  It won't be long before Y6 and Y7  is looming!

attendance

37 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.

92 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this term.

Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.15%

Current whole school attendance is 95.52%

Our attendance figures this week are as follows:

We have had a lot of poorly children this week. Well done to everyone who has been in school and maintained a good level of attendance.

Lateness

During the last school week, we had  11_incidences of lateness.

Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.

These latenesses range from 8 minutes late to 68 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.

TTRockstars

Every child from Year 3 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars

Each issue we will list the latest leader board for Times Tables Rockstars. To get on the leader board, you need to play 'studio' on TTRockstars and you need to play at least ten times.

Please find the current leader board and the class 'top rockers'.

Jack and the beanstalk

In a magical display of talent and creativity, Lower Key Stage 2 wowed us all with their rendition of the timeless classic, "Jack and the Beanstalk."

The school hall was transformed into a stage fit for fairy tales as young actors and actresses took center stage to bring the beloved story to life. From the daring escapades of Jack to the towering, magical appearance of the beanstalk, every moment was filled with energy and enthusiasm.

The production not only showcased the children's acting abilities but also served as a testament to the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Each member of the cast and crew played a vital role in the success of the performance, demonstrating the power of our school values!

We are very proud of each and everyone of you!
