Learning updates

Foundation Stage Foundation Stage children have continued their learning with the RSPB project. They have been reading facts about birds using their phonics, they have drawn birds and have made bird feeders to help feed the birds in the cold months.

Key Stage One We are so proud of our wonderful report writing in Key Stage One this week. We have learned about lots of different African animals this term but have blown our teachers away with our knowledge and super sentences about the Lappet Faced Vulture this week. We have also learned lots of important information about how to stay safe online as part of Safer Internet Day!

Lower Key Stage Two LKS2 have had a full final week of term. In geography, we have looked at both the positive and negative impact volcanoes can have on the surrounding areas. We have enjoyed our PE units this term and got stuck in with tag rugby games and creating our own sequences in gymnastics. In science we had a great time inventing instruments based on our learning; considering how it will make a sound, change in volume and pitch. We are now looking forward to next term and creating performance for you all to enjoy.

Upper Key Stage Two Well, here we are at the end of another term - they just keep flying on by!  The Year 5s had a great discussion about 'conflict' and how best to react / behave in certain situations - they impressed our LCC visitor, quite a bit, with some of their responses. It's been full steam ahead with DT; what a selection of bridges the children have created - Isambard Kingdom Brunel would be very proud, I'm sure. As a school we welcomed John Jeffries, who shared his extensive knowledge about internet safety and brought us all up-to-date with how to safely navigate around the World Wide Web and social media networks. The Year 5s and 6s have learnt a great deal with how to safely use social media platforms and the impact and legalities around cyberbullying.

attendance

44 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.

134 pupils have maintained 100% attendance this term and will receive a certificate.

Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.15%

Current whole school attendance is 95.51%

Our attendance figures this week are as follows:

Well done to Mrs Wilcox and Mrs Smith-wood's class for the best attendance of the week!

All families have received a letter outlining their child's current level of attendance.

Lateness

During the last school week, we had  14_incidences of lateness.

Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.

These latenesses range from 5 minutes late to 195 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.

School Office

If you need to report a child's absence please do this by contacting the school office and leaving a telephone message. You will need to do this on each day your child is absent from school. Please do not use Seesaw to report an absence as this may not be picked up by teachers who are teaching.

The school office is a busy place and we ask parents to be mindful of this when making calls during the school day. The office staff have their break over lunchtime and will not be available to take calls. You can send messages to the office using the following email address, this will be picked up and acknowledged. enquiries@metheringham.lincs.sch.uk

Please be reminded that early pickups are not permitted unless advanced notice has been given with a valid reason. Please also be reminded that children who are late should be signed in by a parent in all instances.

TTRockstars

Every child from Year 3 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars

Each issue we will list the latest leader board for Times Tables Rockstars. To get on the leader board, you need to play 'studio' on TTRockstars and you need to play at least ten times.

Please find the current leader board and the class 'top rockers'.

Our Year Twos have joined the race for top rocker!

This week's X Posts

online safety

This week all classes have taken part in online safety workshops which were delivered by Mr Jefferies, our online safety consultant. It was picked up that lots of our pupils are accessing content, apps and games that are rated inappropriate and unsafe for their age. Please find a useful link for parents that enables you to easily check the ratings and reviews for games, movies, apps and more.

https://www.commonsensemedia.org/

Mr Edwards, our computing lead, will be gaining some parent and pupils voice in Term 4 to find out more about our pupils online experiences so we can tailor our curriculum to meet the ever changing world of online content and safety.

Green ambassadors and school council

The school councillors and green ambassadors have been collaborating these past few weeks. Their hard work paid off today, as they showcased a very informative assembly about recycling to the whole school, no less. Before Christmas, the children from these two groups had a visit from Lincolnshire County Council, who delivered a recycling workshop about recycling in Lincolnshire. Mrs Wilcox, Miss Tucker and Mrs Smith-Wood are so proud of every single one of them. Each speaker spoke with informative clarity, whilst oozing confidence as they had children gripped with their rather creative and interactive recycling game, 'What's in the Box?'.

Co-Op Community Champion

End of term

How are we half way through the school year!

We have had such a busy and wonderful term in school. Again, our pupils have gone above and beyond our expectations and are making so much progress. We hope you can see the quality of learning and curriculum experiences from our weekly newsletters and in the way pupils articulate their knowledge at home. The staffing team have again gone above and beyond in the amount of extra curricular activities they have provided and in their dedication and commitment to inspire our pupils in class.

Term 4 has seen lots of monitoring and challenge from our governing body, our senior leaders and our subject leads. All of this is driving school improvement and raising standards.

Thank you to  our families for your continued support and ongoing recognition of the care offered by us all. Your children are at the heart of everything we do, we are very proud of each and every one of them.

Have a lovely and safe half term,

Mrs Duggin
