Learning updates

Foundation Stage Foundation Stage children have been learning about special people and the roles that these people have in their religious communities. The children have enjoyed drawing and labelling their own special people and making models of Mosques.

Key Stage One This week KS1 have been busy perfecting the Nativity ready to share with everybody, we can't wait! We have applied our maths learning of place value, adding and subtracting. In PE, we have been building our skills in 'Kabaddi'. Y2s have had a visit from the Road Safety Officers, who taught us to Stop, Look & Listen.

Lower Key Stage Two Following on from last week's fun for children in need, the children looked amazing and thoroughly enjoyed being in non-uniform!  This week in year 3 and 4 the children have been focusing on writing news reports in English.  This week's news is based on events from 'Arthur and the Golden Rope', a fictional text about a little boy and a scary wolf. It was lovely to welcome some adults into our classrooms on Wednesday to share some of the children's learning and English activities. In maths, year 3 have been exploring word problems and making decisions as to which operation is needed to solve the problem.  Year 4 have consolidated their 3-, 6- and 7-times tables and been taking part in assessments.  Everyone has shown our school values of resilience and determination and worked really hard. We have loved continuing our Science learning.  It has been great having a go with magnets and exploring magnetism and magnetic materials.  The children have learnt about the south and north poles and how they attract or repel each other.  We have also had fun engaging in road-safety activities and discussions.

Upper Key Stage Two Week 4 has been a delightful, fun-packed week in Upper Key Stage 2!  As ever, we are all super proud of your children. As national Road Safety Week was launched in assembly, Y6 were donning their helmets going out on their bikes with the Bikeability team to learn all about how to be safe with their bikes on our roads.   We have also taken part in workshops delivered by the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership.  With Christmas excitement already beginning to build, Y5 and 6 have been putting their artistic skills into action creating their calendars to sell at the Christmas Fayre next week.  They've really done an amazing job! However, we aren't sharing any photos of these yet, as we don't want to spoil the surprise for you!!  In the Woodpeckers class in maths, subtracting mixed numbers and breaking the whole has really challenged us, but the determination and resilience to succeed has been a delight to behold.  Some of us worked with cubes, some with bar models and some with the mathematical method - now we just need to remember how to do it!   Our English Open Morning was a huge success!  Watching children with their adults learning together was wonderful.  We all enjoyed the moment and the time flew by!  We loved sharing all the positive and heart-warming parent feedback.  Thank you to all were able to attend.

attendance

97 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.

Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.15%

Current whole school attendance is 96.06%

Our attendance figures for week 4 of term 2 are as follows:

Fantastic attendance this week across the whole school and a draw for top spot :-)

Lateness

During the last school week, we had  34_incidences of lateness.

Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.

These latenesses range from 5 minutes late to 95 minutes late. This has a huge impact on classroom teachers, office staff, pupils in class and the child that is late. Please help us to reduce lateness.

TTRockstars

Every child from Year 2 upwards has a TTRockstars account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website TTRockstars

Each issue we will list the latest leader board for Times Tables Rockstars. To get on the leader board, you need to play 'studio' on TTRockstars and you need to play at least ten times.

Please find the current leader board and the class 'top rockers'.

Well done to those of you who are battling for top spots :-)

Spelling Shed

Every child from Year 2 upwards has a Spelling Shed account which can be accessed in school or at home via the website Spelling Shed

Here are the latest scores on the whole-school leader board (these scores are based on their total score from the last 7 days):

Road Safety

We have had a successful Road Safety Week in school. Our Junior Road Safety Officers are busy preparing a whole school assembly on Monday to share all of the learning that has taken place in order to keep us safe.

Some of our children who are under 135 cm in height told the representative from the Road Safety Partnership that they do not have car seats. We have been asked to share the following information in order to keep everyone safe whilst travelling in cars.
