Learning Updates
Foundation Stage Reception children have been comparing seasides in the UK and Australia. They had lots of fun finding the countries and famous seasides on a map and a globe.
Key Stage One This week in KS1, we have been learning more about Brunel and his inventions. We have learnt lots of new facts about Brunel and chose one of his inventions to draw. We have also been enjoying our PSHE lessons where we have been celebrating what makes us unique!
Lower Key Stage Two LKS2 have been busy as always. Year 4 children have enjoyed a competitive game of rounders. Miss Pearson was left stumped when the ball didn't meet the bat. We have been to KS1 to share our setting descriptions and also used this opportunity to find out any questions they may have about moving to KS2. Next week, we are going to write the Y2 children a letter to explain what life is like in KS2. We have continued some mature conversations within our PSHE lessons. We have also summarised and performed the story 'The Crow's Tale' within Reading Comprehension. In addition to all of this, the children showed resilience and determination throughout our 109-word end of year spelling quiz. The children have earned a well deserved rest this weekend.
Upper Key Stage Two In UKS2, it's all been about the PLAY! The year 5 visit to St. George's this week provided a refreshing change of 'scenery'. The children sampled a small part of what life at secondary school can be like. They were treated to a Science and English lesson and of course, the best part, the CANTEEN! 😂 The Year 6s received their 'Leaver's Hoodies' this week; they've been proudly wearing them - a wonderful array of colours!
attendance
27 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.
Current whole school attendance is 95.19%.
Our attendance figures for week 4 of term 6 were as follows:
Well done Mrs Freeman's Class! What a great percentage!
During the last school week, we had 20_incidences of lateness. We hope to see this improve next week.
Please be reminded that doors open at 8:45 and registration is at 9:00. This gives you 15 minutes to be early and have a calm start to the day.

Garden Party
We had a wonderful turn out to last week's Garden Party! What a delight to see so many pupils, families, past pupils and representatives from the local community. It was a fantastic and successful event and we hope you all enjoyed yourselves.
The FOMS Team made this years event bigger and better and we can't thank them all enough for their excellent organisation and dedication of their time. They raised a whooping £1400 to go towards school events, resources and curriculum enrichment. Just WOW!
Splash-a-thon
Thank you to everyone who took part in Metheringham Swimming Pool Splash-a-thon! The event was well attended and pupils enjoyed a free swim, lots of games and activities planned by the pool volunteers, and memory making with their class.
We are so happy to announce that #Teamgreen raised over £1300 towards keeping our community pool open! We are in discussions about making this an annual event, any feedback would be appreciated.

Moving up and Meet the Teacher
On Monday 17th July, we will be holding a 'moving up session'. All children will spend time in their new classrooms, with their new class and teacher. We have already started transition work with many classes and this opportunity will be important in supporting that work. Y6 will get to revisit old memories as they spend the morning in Reception.
We are also inviting all parents to a 'meet the teacher' session on Monday 17th July at 3:30-4:00. Please go to your child's new class for an informal nosey at the classroom and to say hello to their new key members of staff.
New class Seesaw codes will be sent home on Monday 17th July. Please look out for these and get signed up as soon as possible.
parent code of conduct
We would like to remind all parents of the Parent Code Of Conduct which is available to view on our school website.
https://www.metheringhamprimary.co.uk/page/?title=Policies&pid=37
We would like to draw particular attention to the following section:
Inappropriate use of Social Network Site
Social media websites are being used increasingly to fuel campaigns and complaints against schools, Head Teachers, school staff, and in some cases other parents/pupils.
The school seeks to teach pupils the importance of appropriate and responsible use of social media and it is therefore vital that everyone in the school community, including parents and carers lead by example.
The Governors considers the use of social media websites to complain about the school or individual members of staff or make personal comments about anyone in the school community is unacceptable and not in the best interests of the children or the whole school community. Any concerns you may have must be made through the appropriate channels using the Schools Complaints Policy by speaking to the class teacher, the Head Teacher or the Chair of Governors, so they can be dealt with fairly, appropriately and effectively for all concerned in line with that policy.
In the event that any student or parent/carer of a child/ren being educated in the school is found to be posting libellous or defamatory comments on Facebook or other social network sites, they will be reported to the appropriate 'report abuse' section of the network site.
All social network sites have clear rules about the content, which can be posted, on the site and they provide robust mechanisms to report contact or activity which breaches this. The school will also expect that any parent/carer or student removes such comments immediately.
In serious cases, the school will also consider its legal options to deal with any such misuse of social networking and other sites. Additionally, and perhaps more importantly is the issue of cyberbullying and the use by one child or a parent to publicly humiliate another by inappropriate social network entry. We will take and deal with this as a serious incident of school bullying. Thankfully such incidents are extremely rare.
Please note that the inappropriate use of a communications network can give rise to offences under the Malicious Communications Act 1988 or the Communications Act 2003 and if persistent could be deemed to constitute the offence of harassment.
Good lookin cookin
As new classes have now been confirmed with our hot meals provider, packs will be sent home next week with instructions to get all parents set up. You will then be able to order hot meals for September.
We are so excited about this move and would encourage all families to get their children to try these delicious meals. The staff gave them excellent reviews during their tasting session and even took boxes of food home for teatime!
