Mr Edwards will be leaving his teaching post with us at the end of Term 4. He has secured a job at a local school and we wish him well in his future career. We would like to thank him for his commitment to our school and pupils during his time with us.
We would like to welcome Miss Eden to Metheringham Primary School. Miss Eden will be teaching in Year 4/5 on a long term supply basis until the end of the summer term.
Miss Wright has returned to work following her maternity leave. She has returned to her teaching post in Year 6.
Foundation Stage Reception children have enjoyed exploring 3 part patterns in Maths. They used their wonderful creative skills to make more complex patterns throughout the week.
Key Stage One This week, in Key Stage One, we have been busy with lots of exciting learning. In geography, we have continued exploring Kenya, building on our understanding of its landscape, culture and climate. In Year 2 maths, we have begun learning about length and height, using different units to measure and compare. We have also completed our independent writing pieces, inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk and The Elves and the Shoemaker, and we are incredibly proud of the creativity and effort shown. In PE, we have been thoroughly enjoying drumba sessions while also developing our skills and teamwork in tag rugby.
Lower Key Stage Two In Lower Key Stage 2, we have had an incredibly busy and productive week filled with lots of exciting learning opportunities across the curriculum.
In English, the children have been working hard on their independent writing. They have been developing their persuasive language skills, using powerful vocabulary and creative ideas to encourage others to purchase a range of imaginative and wonderful pets. It has been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they apply everything they have learned to produce engaging and convincing pieces of writing.
In Maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of numerators and denominators. The children have been comparing unit fractions and deepening their knowledge through a variety of practical and written activities. Their confidence with fractions is continuing to improve, and they are becoming more secure in explaining their reasoning.
In PE, we have been focusing on developing our catching skills through a series of target games as part of our Pop Lacrosse unit. The children have shown great enthusiasm and teamwork, and it has been wonderful to see their cooperation improving each session. We are now beginning to incorporate more tactical elements into our games, including thoughtful passing and defensive strategies, which is really enhancing their overall performance as a team.
Overall, it has been a fantastic week, and we are very proud of the effort and enthusiasm shown by everyone.
Upper Key Stage Two This week in UKS2 has been largely focused on our Spring Term assessments, and we are incredibly proud of how confidently and maturely the children have approached them. The UKS2 team are really looking forward to seeing the progress everyone has made so far this year. In PSHE, the children have continued their learning about Citizenship, exploring how parliament and national democracy work. Over in maths, we have been working through our decimals and percentages unit, building on last year’s understanding of tenths and hundredths as fractions and decimals. By the end of the unit, the children will be confident working with numbers up to two decimal places — with thousandths coming soon! As the term draws to a close, we are also nearing the end of our Talk for Writing explanation unit. The children are now busy writing their independent pieces, explaining all about their very own DRAGONS. Eek — watch out!

If you would like to gift a book to school for a special occasion or 'just because', please see our Amazon Wishlist for some ideas. All books donated are marked with a special 'gifted by...' message and added to our library.
Children in EYFS and KS1 who have signed up to the disco, will need to bring their disco clothes in a bag so they can get changed at school before the party starts. If your child is attending onsite wraparound care, Premier will work with us to ensure all children who have a ticket get to and from the disco at the correct time and they will also need their disco clothes in a bag.
Tickets will only be available to buy on Parent Pay – don’t miss out! Tickets are not available to buy on the night. Tickets are on sale until 30th March.
Ticket prices are £2.50 This includes entry, entertainment, unlimited drinks and a sweet treat.

KS1 and Foundation Stage are invited to decorate and wear an Easter bonnet or cap on Thursday 2nd April.
KS2 are invited to decorate a hard-boiled egg and bring it into school on Thursday 2nd April.

We’re excited to Go All In during the National Year of Reading 2026! This year, we would like all children and adults to join in with World Book Night on 23rd April, by encouraging everyone to join in the #ReadingHour from 7-8pm. Dedicate time to reading alone or reading to children at bedtime.
We will be creating a reading reel for Instagram and to share in our first achievement assembly of Term 5. Cosy up with a book during reading hour and take a photo of this experience. Send your photo to enquiries@metheringham.lincs.sch.uk to feature in our 'reading reel' and on the big screen in our achievement assembly.
Please remember there is a huge selection of adult books to borrow, including quick reads, in the kindness cubbies in the main entrance.
