Easter arrangements
Foundation Stage Children in Reception have been learning about symbols of Easter in RE. They enjoyed exploring the Easter tuff tray and practised their reading skills through a matching activity.
Key Stage One This week, Year 1 and Year 2 have been immersed in an exciting and engaging topic all about Africa. The children have been learning from Mrs McKechnie, who frequently travels to the continent and was able to share her first-hand experiences. This made the lessons especially vivid and meaningful, as the pupils could hear real stories and insights from her journeys.
It was a delight to see the children so captivated by the stunning photographs of a wide variety of African animals. They were fascinated to learn about where these animals live and how they survive in their natural habitats.
Lower Key Stage Two We have had a super week in lower key stage 2. The excitement and energy has most certainly be focused around our wonderful performance of Cinderella's Kitchen. The whole school enjoyed a lovely start to the week with our dress rehearsal- there were giggles and smiles all round. In PHSE, we have been focusing on citizenship and how to be part of a community. We have reflected on the 'Let's talk Rubbish' workshop from earlier in the term and discussed ways to care for our local communities. It has been great fun designing our own clubs and groups and even having a go at being a councillor! Our Year 4 Lincolnshire Show group have had a wonderful week of exploring different herbs and getting busy planting, planning and preparing our new sensory garden.
Upper Key Stage Two It has been another wonderful week in Woodpeckers, full of enthusiasm, perseverance, and proud moments!
In English, the children have been planning and drafting dragon explanation texts, exploring why dragons are dangerous. They are developing skills such as using modal verbs, causal conjunctions, varied sentence starters, and rhetorical questions, while considering tone and formality. We’re excited to see their imaginative final pieces.
In Maths, pupils have shown great confidence with decimals, especially thousandths, demonstrating resilience and a positive attitude towards challenges.
In PSHE, we explored rights and responsibilities, with thoughtful discussions on freedom of expression and education. In Geography, learning focused on Fair Trade and its global impact.
We also enjoyed LKS2’s Easter performance rehearsal on Monday—it was inspiring! With the spring sunshine boosting spirits, it’s been a positive and productive week, and we look forward to carrying this energy into next week’s assessments.

What an absolutely incredible week of performances we have had! Every single child stepped up and truly excelled in their chosen role.
From the mischievous rats tinkering around in Cinderella’s cellar to the elegant lords and ladies in the ballroom, everyone played their part brilliantly. The coachmen and horses transported our lovely Cinderella around the hall with ease, and we were all captivated by the magical actions of our three enchanting fairies.
The townspeople and the King’s courtiers were a credit to their roles, bringing energy and character to every scene. Our individual and group singers completely blew us away with their confidence and courage on stage.
Our hardworking cleaning props team were nothing short of fantastic. They worked tirelessly to keep the dust at bay, bravely dealt with the troublesome rats, and helped to lift Cinderella’s spirits when she needed it.
And those Ugly Sisters—well, they were simply on another level! They had us all laughing throughout, even if their story ended in dramatic fashion.
The clocks kept time bravely, and the choir was exemplary from start to finish. Cinderella herself was truly exceptional, and we were delighted to see that the kind-hearted Jam Man was recognised and got to marry her in the end. The Prince may have been unlucky in love, but what a fantastic performance he gave!
We could not be prouder of each and every one of the children. They faced their fears with courage, showed kindness and support for one another, and should all feel incredibly proud of what they have achieved.
For the last few years, we have worked with the Adult and Family Learning team at Lincolnshire County Council to deliver community learning opportunities. We are currently running a Family Learning Course linked to early reading. It has been a wonderful course so far, where new learning takes place and friendships are formed.

KS1 and Foundation Stage are invited to decorate and wear an Easter bonnet or cap on Thursday 2nd April.
KS2 are invited to decorate a hard-boiled egg and bring it into school on Thursday 2nd April.
