Lower Key Stage Two Last week, Year 4 took part in a multi-skills sports event at Nocton. The children showed great enthusiasm and were fantastic at encouraging one another throughout the day. They had the opportunity to try a range of activities, including basketball, football, curling and frisbee. Points were awarded for each activity and added together at the end. Well done to the Eagles for achieving the overall win!
In our science lessons, we have been learning how to group and classify animals. We have used Venn and Carroll diagrams to organise living things based on their different characteristics. In history, we have been role-playing as Alfred the Great and making important decisions about how to deal with the invading Vikings and create peace. In computing we are still very much enjoying creating out animations. The children are showing a real flare for this and we can't wait to view the end results.
Upper Key Stage Two In English, our Talk for Writing unit is almost complete and the children have been busy planning and writing their own independent pieces. A key focus has been using speech to move the action forward, and it has been wonderful to see how confidently they are applying this in their writing. In maths, the children are working really hard to be methodical and accurate with long multiplication and algebra. On Tuesday, we welcomed members of Lincolnshire County Council into school to deliver WASTE BUSTER workshops to the whole school, and the UKS2 children thoroughly enjoyed the session and activities. The programme aims to teach children the importance of looking after our environment, the three R/s (reduce, reuse, recycle), Right Thing Right Bin and an understanding of what happens to our rubbish. Midweek also saw a number of our pupils take part in the Young Voices event – lots of smiley but very tired faces afterwards! It’s certainly been another full-on week for our Team Green pupils, and I’m sure the weekend will be very welcomed.
