Lower Key Stage Two We have had a very inspiring week in years 3 and 4 starting with a brilliant poetry workshop. The author was very funny and supported some really lovely poems which were written and shared. We have made wonderful strides in learning our performance songs and even started setting the actions and staging. We are very proud of how well the children have embraced their parts- such a great team opportunity. In computing, we are learning animation skills. We used some little characters to make a short moving animation. There is a lot of excitement for creating story boards and filming their scenes over the next few weeks. The children in Toucan class have been exploring multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100, and understanding factors. They have used practical resources to help their understanding of the concepts. There has also been another boost in children working through our multiplication challenges to develop speed and fluency. Well done everyone.
Upper Key Stage Two This week has been full of exciting learning across the curriculum. In English, we have been working on the innovation phase of our narrative writing, with lots of shared planning and shared writing to develop ideas together. On Tuesday, the children were especially inspired by a virtual author visit from Joshua Seigal, who shared his poems and showed us how to craft powerful poems using just ten words. In History, our learning about the Maya took another leap forward as we studied archaeological artefacts and debated whether they revealed facts about how the Maya lived and what they achieved – a tricky task that really made us think carefully about the evidence. Year 5 were also lucky to welcome the Lincolnshire Stay Safe Partnership, who delivered a valuable workshop on Conflict Resolution, a crucial skill for navigating relationships now and later in life. Elsewhere in PSHE, we are delving into understand money in our Economic Wellbeing unit. We are very grateful for the continued support from home with homework and home reading, and we ask for your ongoing commitment to this, especially with older children.
