Advent Reading Challenge
Foundation Stage This week, our Reception children went into the village to post their letters to Father Christmas. They have been working hard, using their very best handwriting to compose their messages. A copy of each letter has been photocopied and added to their English books as an example of one of their very first pieces of writing. And who knows — they might even receive a reply from the North Pole!
Key Stage One What a wonderful start to the festive period this week in KS1! Alongside performing our amazing Nativity performance, the children also taken great pride in writing our own independent stories in English, using our fantastic imaginations to create our very own losing tale. We have been learning all about the Arctic and Antarctica in Geography and have started thinking about how climate change is affecting these areas. Well done to everyone for a fantastic week of learning and performing!
Lower Key Stage Two This week, Lower Key Stage 2 have been working incredibly hard on creating their own magical creatures for their English writing. We’ve loved hearing all about their imaginative creations — from their unique appearances and fascinating habitats to the truly disgusting things they like to eat! We cannot wait to see their final pieces of writing. In Science, we are completing our learning on the water cycle and linking this to our Geography work on rivers. The children have shown excellent understanding as they make connections across subjects. In PE, we have been exploring the stages of the water cycle through dance. The children have focused on using flowing movements in unison, in canon, and while travelling. It has been wonderful to see them expressing their scientific knowledge in such a creative way. Upper Key Stage Two UKS2 are feeling the festive buzz this December – and the staff are just as excited! We’ve begun our school assessments and are already thrilled to see the wonderful progress the children have made. Year 6 are busy proofreading their spoken parts for the upcoming Christmas Carol Concert, and everyone is looking forward to Friday’s non-uniform day, where we’re certain to see Christmas jumpers galore. In maths, the children are fully immersed in their fractions learning, confidently comparing, ordering and problem-solving with them. Our biographies in English are nearly complete, and we’re now diving into some festive instruction writing inspired by The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. The children’s geography work all about coasts has been especially impressive; their attention to detail and beautifully presented information truly reflect the pride they take in their learning.

This week, our children delighted us with their wonderful Nativity performance, “Knock Knock.” The play followed the journey of Mary and Joseph as they searched for somewhere safe and warm for the birth of baby Jesus — with a few well-timed knock-knock jokes added in for extra fun!
The children sang beautifully, spoke clearly, and performed with such confidence and pride. This was their first time using microphones, and they rose to the challenge brilliantly. From the enthusiastic sheep to the gentle shepherds, sparkling angels, and proud wise men, every child brought the story to life in their own special way.
We are incredibly proud of all their hard work in learning lines, songs, and actions. A huge thank you to families for supporting them at home, and to our staff team for preparing such a memorable performance.
It was truly a heart-warming celebration of community, kindness, and the true meaning of Christmas.
Last week, our JRSO's carried out pupil voice surveys about Road Safety Week.
Their main findings:
KS2
New road safety skills learnt: you have to be over 135cm to not use a car seat and always wear a helmet on bikes and scooters.
KS1
All children could say one thing to do near a road – STOP
EYFS
All children could say that STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and holding an adult's hand helped them to stay safe when crossing roads.
All children said they now felt safe when crossing the road.
Your child has come home with a raffle ticket book. Please sell as many tickets as you can and return the stubs and cash to school for a chance to win a prize.
All tickets should be sold for £1 per ticket or £5 per booklet.

If you would like to send a Christmas card to your friends, our Christmas postbox has arrived. Please ensure first names and class names are clear to read. Our elves will be delivering them to classes as the postbox fills up.
You are welcome to collect children from classes at 3:00 on Thursday 11th December for our annual Christmas Fayre.
This is a very busy event and there will be a one-way system in place to help manage crowds.
Please bring cash and festive cheer. We can't wait to share a Christmassy afternoon with you all.
Our advent reading challenge is back by popular demand
A reading challenge has popped up outside our library. Read your home reading book 5 times a week, at home, and you will receive a raffle ticket. Pop your raffle ticket in the box by our advent tree and be in with a chance to be picked to take home and keep a festive story.
One person will be picked each day in December. Let the challenge and countdown commence!
