We are delighted to share some wonderful news with you—Miss Tucker is expecting her first baby in the next academic year! She and her family are overjoyed, and we know you will join us in congratulating her on this exciting new chapter. We will keep you updated with plans for maternity cover in due course, but for now, we’re simply thrilled to celebrate this happy occasion with her.
Foundation Stage The Reception children have been developing their sewing skills in DT to design and make colourful finger puppet sea animals! They also bought The Very Hungry Caterpillar to life, creating vibrant paintings inspired by the story 🐛.
Key Stage One Key Stage One have had another super week- we have loved learning the Sunshine Song in Music and the Year Twos are so good at clapping 'Mario rhythms' and reading crochets, quavers and rests. We have also really enjoyed our DT learning about levers and sliders to make moving pictures.
Lower Key Stage Two In English, we have been getting to know our new model text as part of our Discovery Story unit. We've enjoyed creating our own story maps to help us learn and retell the story, ready to inspire our own writing soon.
In maths, we have been exploring 3D shapes and trying to describe them using the correct vocabulary: faces, edges and vertices.
In science, we've continued our topic on Light. We've learned how shadows are formed and have planned an investigation to explore what affects the size of a shadow. We’re looking forward to carrying out our experiments and seeing what we find out!
In geography, we’ve begun our new topic on Settlements. We've explored what settlements are and discussed the features that make a good place to live.
A big highlight of the week was our very first swimming lesson of the term! Everyone had a fantastic time, and we’re already counting down the days until we can go again next week.
Upper Key Stage Two In English, UKS2 have been exploring discussion texts, using our new model text, Should Mrs Mac Let the Boys Out Again? and Should mobile phones be allowed in school?, to help us understand how to structure balanced arguments. We've been learning to use persuasive language, support our viewpoints with evidence, and consider both sides of an issue thoughtfully. Year 5 pupils have also had a busy week completing assessments in maths and English, demonstrating great focus and resilience. Year 6 have been busy planning their games for the Summer Garden Party.
Elsewhere in the curriculum, our computing lessons have seen children finalising their own games, using variables to track scores and time. PE has been active and fun, as we’ve learnt the skills of rounders, including batting, fielding, and teamwork. Rehearsals for our end-of-year performance are also well underway, with pupils working hard to memorise lines, sing confidently, and perform with enthusiasm. It's been a busy but productive week!
36 pupils have maintained 100% attendance so far this academic year.
Last years whole school attendance figure was 95.3%
Current whole school attendance is 96.52%
Our attendance figures for this week are as follows:

Swimming continues next week!
Your child will need their swimming kit and a towel on their swimming days.
Your child has brought home a paper copy of the Splash-a-fun information and a sponsorship form. Come along on Sunday 13th July during your class slot and have fun in the pool whilst raising money for our Metheringham pool!
FOMS are looking for donations of sweets in order to run a sweet tombola at the Garden Party.
We are yet to receive many donations of sweets. If anyone could help we would appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.
