We are delighted to share that baby Wright was born on 7th May 2025. Miss Wright is doing very well and baby Thomas is simply beautiful. I'm sure you will join me in congratulating the family on the safe arrival of Thomas. Welcome to the Team Green family little man.
Foundation Stage Wow, what a day we have had celebrating VE Day! The Reception children have been busy using their fantastic maths skills, rotating shapes to create the Union Flag. They made crowns to wear during our street party picnic! What a wonderful day we have had!
Key Stage One Key Stage One have been inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's sunflowers and have been drawing and painting observational drawings of flowers. In English we have been acting like 'Professor Know it all' and become experts on the imagined creature, the Elephog.
Lower Key Stage Two This week in LKS2, we’ve been learning about VE Day and celebrating this important event with the whole school. Year 3 have continued to enjoy their djembe drumming sessions, while Year 4 have made a great start learning the recorder. In science, we’ve begun exploring the different types of teeth and how to look after them. In French, we’ve been learning the names of different stationery items and playing games to help us remember them.
Upper Key Stage Two This week in English, children have been diving into explanation texts, attempting to write as if they were experts on the extinction of dragons. They have been learning how to use modal verbs to suggest possibilities and consequences—such as what might have caused the dragons' downfall. In addition, pupils have explored the use of parenthesis to include extra details, and fronted adverbials of addition to structure their writing more formally. The result has been a collection of wonderfully imaginative yet factual-sounding texts that could easily convince anyone dragons once roamed the skies!
In maths, the focus has been on understanding how decimals, percentages, and fractions are interconnected. Through hands-on activities, children have learned to convert between the three and apply their knowledge to answer questions. Their growing confidence in these areas has been clear, especially when explaining their reasoning during class discussions.
PE has taken on an athletics theme as pupils prepare for upcoming Sports Day events. They’ve been developing their skills across a range of athletic activities, including sprints, egg-and-spoon races, relay running, shot put, and even dribbling challenges. Meanwhile, in history, students have travelled back in time to explore the Shang Dynasty, uncovering fascinating facts about one of China’s earliest civilisations. It's been a busy, exciting week full of energy and discovery!

To our amazing Year 6 pupils: as you head into SATs week, remember how hard you've worked and how far you've come. These tests are just one small part of your primary journey, and they don’t define all the brilliant things that make you you. Believe in yourself, try your best, and know that everyone at school is incredibly proud of your effort, your resilience, and your determination. You’ve got this.....and we've got you!!
We will see you for breakfast on Monday morning.
On Thursday, we celebrated VE Day in school with a special afternoon that brought history to life and created lasting memories for everyone involved. The whole school enjoyed a picnic lunch together, bringing a sense of community and celebration to the playground. As part of our Little Troopers project, some of our military children shared a very special lunch with the residents of The Haven residential home, including a blind veteran whose presence made the day even more meaningful. Our VE Day assembly was a moment of reflection, respect, and gratitude for the sacrifices made by so many. We are incredibly proud of all our children for the respect, enthusiasm, and kindness they showed throughout the day—today was a true celebration of community, remembrance, and pride.
