Foundation Stage Children in Foundation Stage have enjoyed Shrove Tuesday by choosing their own toppings then tucking into their favourite pancakes. Yum!
Key Stage One This week in KS1, we have been busy learning our Billy’s Beetle story off by heart to help us write our own! The children have enjoyed tag rugby in the glorious sunshine, and working on our drumming skills in Drumba. In RE, we are learning about being baptised or Christened - we would love to share any family Christening pictures if you have them. World Book Day was so much fun with so many amazing costumes, and meeting Hannah Gold. We are looking forward to celebrating British Science Week next week too.
In Year 2, we have loved exploring multiplication and division and are very motivated to become fluent at recall. We have explored all of the building blocks to a secure understanding of what multiplication and division means and have loved this learning journey. We have also enjoyed spending time reading an atlas to find out more about the continents and oceans round the world.
Lower Key Stage Two This week in Lower Key Stage 2, the children have been engaging in a variety of exciting learning activities. In geography, the children explored the concept of natural and man-made borders. They learned about different types of borders around the world and how these borders shape countries and communities. In English, we have been working hard to learn our new story, A Close Call. We’ve been developing our storytelling and recall skills to improve our fluency and understanding of narrative structures. In computing, the children have been honing their Scratch skills by learning to move and resize sprites. This activity is helping them understand the basics of coding and programming in a fun and interactive way. For reading comprehension, the class focused on Greta and the Giants, a book about Greta Thunberg and her mission to help the planet. Through this, the children are learning about environmental issues and why Greta is so passionate about making a change for the world.
It’s been a week full of discovery, creativity, and learning! We look forward to the next steps in our journey of exploration. Keep up the great work, Lower Key Stage 2!
Upper Key Stage Two This week in English, our Year 4/5 class has started exploring a brand-new text—a warning story centred around a mysterious windmill. The children have immersed themselves in the story, learning the text and bringing key moments to life through engaging freeze-frame drama activities. These creative sessions have helped them deepen their understanding of the story while having lots of fun acting out different scenes!
In maths, we continue our focus on fractions, building confidence in tackling different fraction-related problems. The children are working hard to develop their understanding of equivalent fractions, addition and subtraction of fractions, and problem-solving strategies. Their enthusiasm and perseverance in this topic have been fantastic to see!
Meanwhile, in Computing, we have been diving into physical computing with Crumble kits. The children have been experimenting with changing light colours and exploring how the kits function, with an exciting goal in mind—by the end of term, they will use their skills to create a working carousel!
Geography has taken us on an exciting journey to South America, where the children have just begun a research project on one of the continent’s diverse and vibrant countries. They are eagerly gathering facts, exploring maps, and uncovering the unique cultures, landmarks, and wildlife that make this part of the world so fascinating. We can’t wait to see their final projects and celebrate their discoveries!

If you would like to gift a book to school for a special occasion or 'just because', please see our Amazon Wishlist for some ideas. All books donated are marked with a special 'gifted by...' message and added to our library.
We were totally inspired by the amazing presence of Hannah Gold, who visited us and delivered workshops on World Book Day. Hannah is a top selling children's author and is extremely busy after the release of her latest book 'Turtle Moon'. She only had one World Book Day visit planned this year and it was us!
Hannah delivered workshops to Key Stage Two, signed books and engaged with pupils over lunchtime and attended the KS1 and EYFS booknic at the end of the school day.
We hope the children enjoyed the day and have told you all about it!

Reading for Pleasure Survey
Reading for pleasure is so important - it helps children develop their imagination, build confidence, and improve their language and communication skills. A love of reading opens doors to new worlds, fosters curiosity, and supports lifelong learning.
As part of the Lincolnshire Reading Pledge, we are gathering views from our pupils, families, and staff to understand more about reading for pleasure - both in and out of school. Your thoughts and experiences are invaluable in helping us create the best possible reading culture for our children.
Please take a moment to share your views by completing this short online survey: Click Here
Thank you for your support in making reading an enjoyable and enriching experience for all!
Comic Relief information will be sent home next week.
Children are welcome to come to school dressed in non-uniform...the redder the better. Donations to Comic Relief are welcome via Parent Pay.
