Foundation Stage Children in Foundation Stage have been solving problems from a crime scene, learning the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and role playing the characters from the story. What a fun start to our term!
Key Stage One A great return to school for our Key Stage One pupils! We have loved kicking off the term with a new Talk 4 Writing text, Billy's Beetle . We have done lots of drama and some craft to help us learn the story off by heart. We have begun to learn about Christianity in RE- finding out lots about baptisms. We have also been outside to enjoy some tag rugby in the sunshine and gotten sweaty and energised in Drumba in the hall.
Lower Key Stage Two It's been another fantastic week of learning and growth for lower key stage 2. The children have done brilliantly at learning their lines for our upcoming performance, and rehearsals are coming along really well. We're so proud of their hard work and dedication! In Geography, we've been exploring the countries of Europe and the seas and oceans that surround it. The children are developing a strong understanding of Europe's diverse landscapes and its geographical features. In PSHE, we've been focusing on our community and looking at the various clubs on offer. We've been discussing how these clubs help people and contribute to a sense of belonging. In our reading sessions, we've been delving into Greta and the Giants. The children have really enjoyed exploring the story and learning more about the important messages it conveys. We're so proud of the effort and enthusiasm the children have shown this week.
Upper Key Stage Two This week in UKS2, we have been diving into the world of percentages in Maths, with Year 6 working hard to refine their arithmetic skills. In English, we've begun writing newspaper reports about the infamous dragon Smaug, featuring some fantastic eyewitness accounts! Our Geography lessons have taken us on a journey through South America, while in Computing, we had great fun experimenting with Crumble kits—coding to make an LED light up. It's been an exciting and engaging week of learning!

During the half term holidays Premier Education ran a holiday club at Metheringham Primary school. It was the first time a holiday club had been set up at school and it was a roaring success. The club was suitable for all ages and run by Coach Tom and Coach Freya. Each day the children experienced different types of games; team games, hockey, basketball, football and dodgeball. There were a variety of ages attending from different local schools. Henry and Lois (members of our Sports Crew) would highly recommend the club. “It was so much fun and we got to be active during the holidays!”

This year's Science Week Competition is live on The British Science Week website. Have a go for a chance to win some brilliant prizes.
The theme for 2025 is ‘Change and adapt, – there are loads of STEM topics to be explored. Pupils could create a poster showing how plants and animals adapt to changing seasons or surroundings, or how humans have adapted to changing technology. They could look at climate change and how we can adapt our behaviours to protect the environment, or their favourite science experiment and how it shows change. The more creative the interpretation of the theme, the better!
