End of term 3
Miss Allen and Miss Dannatt have started their second school placement as trainee teachers at another school in Lincolnshire. We will see them again in Term 5 when they return to us. Miss Lyne will be working with Miss Pearson's Class in Term 4 for a block of teacher training.
Mrs Taylor celebrated 40 years of service at our school this week. We lined the corridors and applauded her huge commitment to our school. What a lady!
Foundation Stage Children in Foundation Stage have been exploring the Codapillars. They have really enjoyed giving the little robot instructions, using positional language. Great problem solving and team work too🐛
Key Stage One KS1 have been hard at work putting the finishing touches on their independent stories, and the results have been truly phenomenal! Their creativity and storytelling skills have shone through in every piece.
In art, they have been applying the techniques they've learned throughout the term to create stunning bird sculptures. Their attention to detail and artistic flair have brought their creations to life beautifully!
Lower Key Stage Two This week, Year 3 and 4 have been excelling in their studies! The children demonstrated their growing knowledge in science and history with impressive results on their end-of-unit quizzes. It's been wonderful to see their understanding and enthusiasm shine through.
In addition to their academic progress, the students have been buzzing with excitement as production rehearsals continue. We’re thrilled to announce that after half term, there will be no scripts—just pure performance! The children are really looking forward to this next step and are embracing the challenge with lots of energy and creativity.
In English, the students have completed writing their independent stories. It’s been amazing to watch their ideas come to life, and they’ve thoroughly enjoyed sharing their finished stories with their peers. The imagination and creativity they've shown are truly inspiring!
Upper Key Stage Two And we are here, the final week of term has arrived! This week has been another busy and exciting one for our UKS2 pupils! They have been working hard to edit and finalize their 'hero' stories, bringing their creative ideas to life with impressive detail. In history and art, they have been crafting their own canopic jars out of clay, showcasing both skill and historical knowledge. Our Year 6s have truly demonstrated how much they have grown since September in their recent assessments, making us incredibly proud of their progress. In maths, they have been diving into a new unit on decimals, tackling challenges with determination. With all this hard work, they are more than ready for the half-term break—but the excitement isn’t over yet! Everyone is looking forward to the much-anticipated Year 6 residential to Kingswood, which promises to be an unforgettable adventure.

We are very proud of the Happy and Healthy Ambassadors. They planned Children's Mental Health week and what a success it was. Every child in Key Stage 1 planted a seed and every child in Key Stage 2 took part in a healthy snack workshop. This was all funded by the Lidl voucher that they were successful in applying for earlier in the academic year. The whole school also enjoyed getting out into the school grounds and walking more, trying out yoga and hearing tips and tricks about wellbeing from the Happy and Healthy newsletter. A super achievement.
Over the past two weeks, we have seen fantastic football matches against other schools.
The Metheringham girls (wearing our new girls' kit) took on the Navenby girls in a close match, which saw Navenby score early on. As we started to grow into the game, we made some good passing moves and played some nice football. In the second half, Isla took a shot that went just past the post and the game finished 1-0 to Navenby.
Our boys had a league game against Ruskington Chestnut Street. We started the game well with Max scoring on his birthday (in his new boots). As the game progressed, there were plenty of goals, most notably Zack's goal from the halfway point went zooming into the top corner of the goal. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the game finished 7-4 to Chestnut Street.
Please find details of our clubs offer for Term 4. Clubs went live from Monday 10th February at 1pm and places are filling up fast. Please sign up quickly to avoid disappointment. Thank you for all your support.
We raised a huge £246.50 for Tiny Tickers today. The whole school went on a woodland walk splashed in shades of red. Alistar thanked the whole school for taking part in a charity very close to his heart. What a community!
We said goodbye to our beautiful and kind friend this week. Elsie will always be part of our Metheringham family and she will live on in our care and support for one another.
Our FOMS Team are planning a fundraising event in Term 4 and we hope to create a memorial in school to help us navigate our times of sadness and to create a special place to sit and remember.
We cannot express enough, our gratitude for all of your love and support this term.
