Math Competitions

Each year, MTCS students participate in the TMTA Math Competition, joining schools from across Tennessee in a challenging and engaging academic event. Middle school students compete by grade level in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade divisions, while high school students showcase their skills in subject-specific categories, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, and Calculus/Higher Mathematics. This competition provides students with the opportunity to apply their mathematical knowledge, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and represent MTCS among top-performing peers statewide.

Students at our school have the opportunity to participate in the Purple Comet! Math Meet, an exciting international mathematics competition. In this event, students collaborate in teams to solve challenging and creative problems, competing against peers from around the world. The competition not only strengthens mathematical skills, but also encourages teamwork, critical thinking, and a global perspective as students represent their school on an international stage
