"The sixth grade curriculum will examine the Earth and its people. We, as a class, will explore different civilizations and how people thrived in different areas of the world. Eight characteristics were used to determine whether a group of people would be considered a "civilization". We will discuss the importance of each characteristic and apply them to the ancient civilizations we explore. The Mesopotamians and Ancient Egyptians are first on our journey, then we will cross the Atlantic Ocean to study the Mayans and Aztecs. When our journey ends, we'll be able to explain how ancient civilizations created a foundation for the world we live in today. I can't wait to EXPLORE the world with you!" ~ Mrs. Spiller
