Podcasts

From: Ashley Bible @ Building Book Love:

Podcasts make excellent distance learning tools (or traditional learning tools!) for students because:

  • Podcasts are engaging for students.

  • Podcasts can be downloaded and played without internet (though internet is needed for initial download).

  • Several podcasts provide transcripts to assist language learners, hearing impaired, or those without internet who pick up distance learning packets.

  • Podcasts are like being read to, so they assist striving readers.

  • Podcasts can be played from a phone through a FREE podcast app or linked and played via a computer.

  • Podcasts can be listened to while on a walk to promote movement.

  • Podcasts require only ears so cut down on screen time.

  • Podcasts serve a variety of interests.

  • Podcasts promote life-long learning and real-world skills.

  • Podcasts create a communal, old-school-radio feeling.

  • Podcasts provide something to discuss with friends.

The Allusionist scratches the surface of why we say the things we say. English is a big messy mutt of a language, formed by military invasion after military invasion, plus countless tiny idiosyncratic decisions made by its users along the way.
