To provide quality instruction in biology, chemistry, and natural sciences to adequately prepare the students in establishing careers in the academe, industry, and the health sector and/or in pursuing specialized studies in different fields of biology and allied sciences;
To produce highly competent, output-oriented and versatile graduates through holistic enhancement of skills in biological techniques, comprehension, critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, technical writing, and oral communication both in theory and laboratory settings;
To capacitate students to adapt and productively perform in different work settings by inculcating the values of discipline and responsibility, and by developing a strong sense of ethical behavior;
To train students in conducting basic and applied research in biology to actively partake in the advancement of relevant, responsible, and practical science and technology in the region; and
To empower students to become effective extension workers and skilled agents of sustainable development in the community.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BIOLOGY
Our BS Biology Program offers four (4) major tracks designed to cater to the various interests of our students coming from SOCCSKSARGEN and its neighbouring regions. These tracks include Animal Biology (Zoology), Plant Biology (Botany), Microbiology, and Biodiversity. Incoming 3rd year BS Biology students are well-guided and encouraged when choosing the right tracks of specialization best fitted to their research skills and interests.
Major/Tracks Offered:
Animal Biology (Prospectus)
This track offers a strong foundation in animal anatomy, morphology, and physiology. It also provides the research skills required to study animal biodiversity, ecology, and evolution.
Plant Biology (Prospectus)
This track leads the students to be plant science experts, including plant biodiversity, plant pathology, plant breeding, horticulture, plant molecular genetics, and plant chemistry.
Microbiology (Prospectus)
This track equips the students with the laboratory skills vital in studying various microorganisms, like viruses, bacteria, algae, protozoan, and fungi, and their respective biological activities affecting human, animal, and plant health.
Biodiversity (Prospectus)
This track prepares the students interested in terrestrial and marine fauna and flora for biodiversity and conservation research for potential policy-making and interventions.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CHEMISTRY
Our BS Chemistry Program of the Science Department proudly welcomed its pioneering batch last August 2025. Designed to meet the growing scientific and industrial demands of SOCCSKSARGEN and nearby regions, the program provides a strong foundation in analytical, organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry. Students are guided throughout their academic journey and are encouraged to explore specialized areas that align with their skills, interests, and future career paths. The BS Chemistry Program is committed to producing competent and industry-ready chemists equipped for research, innovation, and professional practice.
MASTER OF SCIENCE IN BIOLOGY
Our MS Biology Program is currently the highest graduate degree program offered by the Science Department. This graduate program is designed to provide a strong foundation in the concepts and principles of Biology vital in providing quality education, research, and extension services. This program aims to produce highly trained biologists in zoology, botany, microbiology, and biodiversity research.
