Day 1 – Opening Day

The Užice City Cultural Center, in collaboration with the “Vojislav-Lale Stefanović” Music School, is proud to host the first International Jazz Campus, taking place in Užice from August 2 to August 9, 2025.
This unique educational music camp brings together talented young musicians from the former Yugoslav republics and beyond, aiming to enhance their knowledge and skills in jazz through an intensive seven-day workshop.
Working with top jazz educators and performers from Serbia, Germany, Austria, and Slovenia, participants will have the opportunity to develop their instrumental technique, improvisation, active listening, creative thinking, and ensemble performance.
The program includes:
- Individual and group instrumental instruction
- Ensemble rehearsals organized by skill level and age
- Lectures on jazz harmony and arranging
- Nightly jam sessions
- A final concert featuring participants, as well as a faculty concert
Let the music begin!
The classes will be held in both Serbian and English, and instructors are provided for the following instruments: trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, guitar, electric bass, double bass, drums, and jazz vocals.
Accommodation and meals for all participants are arranged at the student dormitory in Užice.
Applications are submitted via an online form, along with the registration fee.

Program of Activities:
Day 1: Introduction to the Campus and History of Jazz
Welcome and introduction of instructors and participants.
Lecture: Historical development of jazz and its influence on contemporary music.
Workshop: Basic concepts of jazz improvisation.
Day 2: Rhythm and Harmony
Practical workshop: Fundamentals of rhythm in jazz music.
Small group work: Harmonic analysis of jazz standards.
Day 3: Improvisation and Individual Work
One-on-one consultations with instructors.
Creative workshop: Developing your own musical expression through improvisation.
Day 4: Ensemble Work
Ensemble practice: Enhancing teamwork and musical communication.
Rehearsing repertoire for the final performance.
Day 5: Exploring Jazz Styles
Workshop: Introduction to various jazz styles (swing, bebop, fusion).
Practical work on adapting compositions to different styles.
Day 6: Dress Rehearsals and Public Performances
Dress rehearsal for the final concert.
Promotional performance in the local community.
Day 7: Final Concert and Certificate Ceremony
Public concert of participants at the City Cultural Center.
Certificate award ceremony and announcement of Jazz Ambassadors.
