Welcome! This is a showcase to highlight the work I have completed as I achieved my Master of Arts in Education. You will find two types of items below: creations and reflections. My creations are items that I can use in my classroom. Some of the creation items are for student use directly while others are for my use. My reflections are a synopsis of my learning from different courses. In my reflections category you will find essays and presentations.
Creations
Below you will find 5 different artifacts from the course of my graduate degree. I have labeled these artifacts as creations because they are items that were created for use in my classroom. Some of these items would be used by me as the teacher for reference, Resource Binder and Curriculum Modification. Others are for student use Student Success Criteria, "What I wish my teacher knew..", and "All about me".
To better support my students with learning differences I created a document that details multiple terms in special education. This document is growing as I find terms that are important for the general education teacher to know. I completed this assignment for the Policy, Practices and Perspectives in Special Education. This artifact highlights my ability to synthesize information into an easy to read resource.
Working through Next Generation Science Standards was pivotal in my science teaching journey. I created multiple assignments to better reflect the standards. The assignment above was modified to allow students to watch and listen to directions. It was aligned with standards by having students model. This artifact highlights my ability to create assignments that meet students needs through universal design as well as demonstrating an ability to successfully implement standards.
While spending a semester learning how to be creative in my teaching, I felt a desire to see more creativity in my students. Often students are assessed on participation, timeliness, work completion, ect. I felt there was space for students to also be assessed on their creativity. This artifact highlights my ability to rubrics for student assessment.
While developing my skills to be a more successful online teacher, I created a form for my students to tell me more about themselves. This form goes above and beyond the typical "all about me" allowing students to share deeper thoughts. It can be easy for students to get lost in the virtual world, this gives them the space to share. This artifact showcases my care for students, I desire to know them better in order to meet their needs.
When teaching in the virtual world you have to come up with different ways for students to showcase information about themselves. This "All About Me" poster gives students the opportunity to share who they are but also how they learn best. In my classroom I would use this assignment in a “gallery walk”. This artifact showcases my care for students' emotional learning and needs. Students get to express who they are to me as well as their peers.
Reflections
Below you will find 3 artifacts from the course of my graduate degree. These artifacts have been titled reflections because they are projects that I completed at the end of a course the encompassed all of the learning that had taken place that semester. You will find two video presentations and one essay.
During my introduction to my masters I read through 5 books highlighting differences in education. This video presentation is a culmination of my learning. I was intrigued by the different connections that existed between the vastly different educational stories in the 5 books. This artifact highlights my ability to recognize connections between learning experiences.
As mentioned previously, taking a deep dive into the Next Generation Science Standards brought my teaching to a new level. This essay provides a brief overview of where I have been in my teaching and where I am headed. I include current practices that I am implementing in my classroom. This artifact highlights my desire to learn and continue refining my skills as a science educator.
While studying how best to educate students in mathematics, we focused on the technique of using collaboration. I found that collaboration is lacking in my virtual science classroom. I wanted to find ways to increase collaboration, which is what this presentation is all about. This artifact highlights my ability to do educational research and synthesize the information.
